Lip Man 1 Posted February 7 Share Posted February 7 -- Jose Altuve, one of the most accomplished and popular players in Astros history and a cornerstone of a pair of World Series championship teams, will likely end his career in Houston. The star second baseman agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Astros on Tuesday, his third extension with Houston. The deal will start in 2025 and will take Altuve through his age-39 season. The deal is worth $125 million, including $30 million each season from 2025-27, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. Still see them trying to lock in Valdez and Tucker, with Bregman walking unless he signs a more team friendly deal. Would be nice for the Sox to have stars for life on the team. All the best White Sox of the past 75 years have not stayed with the White Sox their entire careers, with multiple unnecessary dust-ups between management all time MLB stars. There are only four Top 50 bWAR Career White Sox Hitters and Pitchers in the modern era who played their entire career with the White Sox. It was impossible to “undo” Konerko playing briefly before coming here. I appreciated Jerry keeping Pauly through the end. Among the players who began their MLB careers with the White Sox, the seven during my life I would have loved to have seen Sox for life who played during my fandom are Abreu, Baines, Beuhrle, Lemon, Sale, Thomas, and Ventura. They still have two potential current players if they continue to play outstanding baseball (Cease and Robert Jr.). Tim was on that list as well until things crashed the past two seasons. Made sense for both to move on, though I’d be happy if Tim would like to return this season, turn things around, and remain a Sox for life. Texsox Posted February 10 Share Posted February 10 @South Side Hit Men Excellent list with Abreu, Baines, Beuhrle, Lemon, Sale, Thomas, and Ventura. I wouldn't argue any of those names. Now look at the reality. $19 million plus per year for Abreu. Does it make sense for this team and for Abreu to be playing in Chicago next season?
