in 20 years White Sox owner, Mellody Hobson, will present Chris Getz the John Schuerholz Award, for excellence in the GM role.

Melody, " I want to thank Chris for his dedication and hard work and the 7 World Series titles."

I am not really paying attention to this year. Terrible product and with Chris Getz in charge I have no hope for the future. I have never been more disillusioned as a fan.

There are a lot of Sox fans including Nancy Faust who feel the exact same way as you do.

Extremely poor choice for GM.  Why would anyone in their right mind bring in a GM  from one of the worst franchises in baseball (KC).

I guess it is now a race to the worst team in baseball.

That's why they call him a "Doubting Tomas."

I think the ballpark has been on gatz watch ever since that fat lady shot herself?

The 17 year old girls should be on Gaetz watch...

More good than bad so far imo. All you can do is grade him on his work and I think the team is better positioned than it was when he took over. What would someone like David Stearns or Alex Anthoupolos have done differently? Pulled Shohei Ohtani out of his hat?

there have been a few head scratcher moves like Popeye and Mena but otherwise he seems fine. You can’t really make a proper judgement until we see what Thorpe, Iriarte and Zavala can do. I thought he could’ve gotten a better return similar to what Castillo netted the Reds but time will tell.

1 trade and now people want him fired. The whitesox need a culture change.... So does Soxtalk. You could get 2 top 100 prospects and some will complain it was not 2 top 10. I feel Getz got what he could at the moment for cease.

I agreed with the initial strategy of asking for a ransom for Cease and waiting to the deadline if noone was going to offer a ton.

Instead, we gave in. Cease is having a Cy Young caliber year which was always the concern. The return would have been there at the deadline even if Cease didn't bounce back, but he did, and we look like fools.

So yes to me this was a firable offense because the strategy made no sense. Literally, the only thing that would have prevented the kind of return we got at the deadline would have been an arm injury. He was really our lone remaining asset.

People got way too obsessed with fantasy packages for Cease that was like a top 20 prospect and then some. What they ended up getting was a Top 50 prospect and two more borderline top 100 prospects PLUS a solid controllable reliever who hopefully will be flipped for more prospects in a few months. This is not only an acceptable package, but a pretty damn solid one.

After having the knowledge of what has happened so far this season, no way would I have wanted Dylan Cease to be on this team until July.

Of anything and everything to complain about Getz the Cease trade is pretty far down the list. There was severe downside risk holding him (arm blows up) and it was asymmetrical to the upside of holding him and hoping he pitched like a true ace for three months.

Getz will get a year or two. We're just going to have to suck it up.
