greg775
Here are some Soxtalk legends: Fathom: (I envision him as a nice guy in real life; knows his stuff, used to get mad when we lost to Cubs, I think he played baseball longer than most on here). Caulfield: Same as Fathom. Seems like he'd be a nice guy in real life. Used to make interesting posts about China. He and Fathom seem like kind souls. Harry Chappas: Not only has ties to Brother Rice but has reasonable posts and also never gets mad on here. Seems like a nice guy as well and a proud southsider me thinks. WhiteSox2023 also has Br. Rice ties and seems to have his head on straight. He hasn't been around as long. Milkman Delivers: On the list of most likely to punch greg in the face if we met. I just don't think he likes me much. I could be wrong. Ron883: I think he is ok with greg. He's posted a long time, seems reasonable. I think we've disagreed on some players' value in the past. Texsox: Seems like a nice guy. I think we would agree on political stuff in real life. Mabe not. Those few come to mind right now. Peace on earth to all over the holiday season. SoxAce
I discovered this site back in 2003 around the time Greasy and Bearsfan joined. I decided not to join because I was apprehensive and a serious introvert. But after the Jeremy Reed talk (he was my favorite prospect at the time) I grew some balls and joined right after New Years in early January 2004 under the name J.Reedfan8. I believe @knightnialso joined around the same time as me. It was ALOT different back then and I miss the old crew and days but I'm so happy Soxtalk has thrived for so long. Most of us were young teenagers or in our 20s back then. Now we're all old fucks, most are married, most have kids etc. Merry Christmas everyone! Middle Buffalo
I figure this is as good a place as any to post that today marks my 20th anniversary on Soxtalk. I remember accidentally coming across this site (no, I did not mistype Sextalk) when googling the Sox. I had never been a member of any forums, but I clicked on this one early in spring training 2005. After a few days, I joined, and what a season to join. I was hooked immediately. I’ve never posted more than 2-3 times a day and probably average fewer than once a day. Anyway, Soxtalk has been my number 1 source for Sox news and entertainment. I religiously visited this site daily for years. This past winter is probably the only one where I didn’t log in daily when I had the opportunity. I’ll be back daily again during the season. Can’t help it. Anyway, thanks to all the posters who’ve kept me connected to my favorite team since I moved away from Chicago. Thanks especially to the mods who keep it running and help maintain a generally civil atmosphere. There have been some rough patches, but ultimately we’re all here suffering the same sickness - our love of White Sox baseball. 1 2
Texsox
It's crazy to think how long we've been around.
PaleAleSox
I used to post at WSI (2004-2014 or so I think), but I won't tell you what my name was because I was really mean to everyone.
greg775
I forget how I found out about it. I would like to thank the founders for a place to discuss my lifelong team, the Sox. I will say on a personal note, I think I got suspended twice for short periods and one long six month period which took up the whole winter. I haven't been disciplined in a long while. I'm glad I never got a permanent boot for my tendency to repeat myself and ostensibly ruin threads. My favorite moment as a fan: Wrapping up the sweep in 05. Favorite manager: Ozzie. Fave player: Gary Peters, Big Hurt tie. Best Sox player in my tenure as a fan: Buehrle. Most obscure favorite player: Claudell Washington. Kidding, it'd probably be Bill Nahorodny cause of the way Harry freaked out at how much he liked his name. My favorite posters: Caulfield and Fathom. Tex and the Brother Rice guys would be next. Chisoxfn
Got one of those photo reminders on Facebook…16 years ago this week is when I created the Soxtalk blackout that last 1 plus week (might have been longer)….when I totally screwed up a site upgrade….

I feel like there was a time where the site crashed because of the traffic when there was an important trade or signing going down. But I don’t remember what it would have been or when it would have been since the site is rather reliable.
Sox guy
Rice boys are nice boys, we play with Fisher Price toys. I have a request for the admins here: Please preserve the archives forever, even if this site goes under, which it hopefully won't. I asked this at WSI, but they nuked the archives anyway, which was dumb of them. Lots of valuable stuff, especially for a forum this old. Do yall have a link to the 9/11 thread Was this ever run on vbulletin. It was better, because it had easy accessible low-fi archives, in chronological order even if you necrobumped a thread. Do you guys have a similar way to view historic threads I posted at southsiders.net till I discovered WSI, then stayed there till it all of a sudden disappeared. I found out about its new site, but my handle didn't work, and I'm not gonna make a new account just for those clowns. If they're dumb enough to destroy the most popular Sox site, and one of th most popular fan forums period, then screw them. They deserve no traffic. So again, please preserve Soxtalk history, and make it easily accessible if you can. I can't believe old forum admins dont care about living history, Somethingawful forums also screwed up with their archiving. Their threads go back to the 90s, but now they're either nuked too, or behind some kind of paywall. I cant sift thru them like I used to. Reading candid 90s conversations is fascinating, people don't understand what a slice of history and humanity message boards are.
