Schultz to Bham

Featured Replies

This is good. Assuming health, there’s a non zero chance he’s in the bigs next year.

Interesting that he got promoted to AA before Thorpe got promoted to AAA despite Schultz having several just OKish outings and Thorpe being dominant.

Guessing they are stuffing everyone on the same team to try to win something.

Neat.

For the first time since 2008 Birmingham...they actually seem to care about "winning" a Southern League championship and bonding together and also placing as many player as possible on the All-Star Team as well in June.

This was the exact strategy that the Royals utilized with their Wilmington, Wichita and Omaha teams leading into the 2012-13 seasons...promoting teams together as basically "core" units.

That's very interesting... it will be a big jump for him.

Honestly would let him experience more prolonged success in High A and wait to move him until the Carolina League All-Star game in mid-July.

A+ to AA always used to be the highest jump of all, especially with how big some of the Southern League stadiums play.

Schultz has a chance at true greatness. He'll handle the jump. Just have to see if his elbow explodes or not. Even if it does, he'll still

have a delayed chance at greatness. Jacob Gonzalez turns 22 next week. It's time for AA.If he fails, maybe it'll be time for me to try AA.

it is once again that time of year where I think 'huh, sure would be the perfect time to get an influx of, perhaps, college aged/high school aged athletes into the system" but alas, mid july it is.

Is there even room in the Birmingham rotation for him?

Sox have probably 10 starting pitching prospects who are looking really good.

He pitches 4 innings per week.  There's room.

where did Kiley McDaniel rank him?
