The Bulls are undoubtedly more entertaining to watch especially last year. The losing part that results in them being in NBA sucks, but the ride was fun.

Rides that end in a brick wall every season are rarely remembered fondly

Outside of Matas it’s pretty hard for me to see anyone on that roster being in the next good/great bulls team.  They yet again flamed out in the play in, it’s just hard for me to see actual sustained improvement.

If Josh Giddey post Lavine trade is the real Josh Giddey we get going forward, he can absolutely be on the next Bulls good/great team.

Post All Star dude put up 21/10/9 with a 62% TS%.....He's only 22....Why can't he be considered an emerging star?

Contract status and the Bulls unwillingness to spend.

The Bulls next offseason have 32 million in payroll after presumably picking up Matas option.... I see zero reason why they cant/won't sign him especially if he plays like he did down the stretch.

Honestly I think they are just waiting till next offseason to hope to build something. Matas will be in his 3rd year, Noa his 2nd, Giddey will be a 24 year old star hopefully, and they can actually spend money on top of that.

Idk what people's expectations of this year were or how they were gonna reach them when the NBA has a salary cap.

Dude we do this every year.  Last year you told me Ball was coming back and lo and behold the last half of the season he was injured and gone just like i thought .  I’m just not gonna put my faith in a guy who looked good for 3 months, sorry

done playing this game with that front office.  You can be sunshine and balloons, I’m just not gonna be excited about this team unless they give me reason to.  I’m not hoping they are gonna turn a guy into a super star because they absolutely have no ability

I will say - if the Bulls acquired Beal and bought him out and they gave up Patrick Williams and got Malauch that would be stellar.  I'd even give up the Portland pick at this point and just be happy using our cap space and accelerating flexibility (ie dumping Williams longer term to take on Beal's higher up front $'s) while getting a big in Malauch that becomes quite interesting with the other young parts.  Team will still be crazy raw - but at least you can see a lot of young athleticism with tools and over time you figure out who sticks and those that maybe don't get to where you want you can still package up to take on better veteran players and/or use cap space, etc.

My presumption is if that was going to happen though it would have happened during the draft not after...but I think value wise it probably would be a pretty fair trade.

I know the odds of this happening are like 5%, but I still can't figure out why Phoenix acquired Mark Williams almost simultaneously with drafting Malauch.

You have faith in the Bulls to do the right things.  That's where we differ.

I mean, I totally get it, the criticism is largely warranted and yes, losing sucks and should be a HUGE barometer on judging a front office.... That being said there's a cap floor in the NBA. IF Giddey continues to play like he did in the 2nd half, and yes Kyyle, I emphasized IF, I can't fathom they let him go when they're only at 32mill in cap space.

I get uncanny valley watching Olbrich run in these clips. My brain thinks he's running like a rugby or football player?

Annoyed that they could have kept #45 and just drafted a 7'3" giant at the spot, but whatever, AK must have his lanky runners

Ak and Reinsdorfs are such trash. Had a frp from Memphis instead we get a meh rotational player. I’d prefer the pick.

Right?  Like what the entire f*** are they even doing, it’s just all reactionary.  Had to keep ball for the great story and comeback until he never played for the rest of the season and now this.

Okoro is a tremendous defender so there's that. OKC and Indiana were 2 of the best defensive teams in the league and we saw where that got em.

Ball was good defensively but reliability/availability will always be a question for him.

Now if they follow this up and trade Vic and Pat for Beal and some assets I’m happier. I don’t mind that the team has a lot of young players - that part is at least good and plenty are solid - not likely any hit into a star but I get that concept at least - but when you are doing that strategy - you need to also accumulate assets at stages.

At least they got something for him.  That extension was strange the minute they signed it.  The Bulls just continue to tread water.

”Mired in mediocrity” could be JR’s motto for both teams, but the White Sox aren’t even good enough to be mediocre.

They had a first round pick from Memphis lined up and turned it down iirc.  It’s just so stupid, draft your own guy and pay him a rookie wage on a rookie deal, don’t add 12M for 1 year and then have to figure out if you still want or need that guy and have to pay him
