Pete Rose Dead at 83

OK, how in the heck is this news not reported on mlb.com yet? I mean I know he was banned, but I think this is even bigger than the Mets-Braves DH IMHO.

I enjoyed watching him play.

I honestly give zero fucks about the sports betting because I am very confident it never affected his play but…the dude did admit to a sexual relationship with a 16 year old girl when he was 34.  That’s fucking weird.  Great player, bad person.

Wanna bet that it never affected his play?

I honestly don’t think it did.  Regardless, it’s inconsequential.  The guy was an admitted pedo.  f*** him.

Use promo code "PETEROSE" to place this bet with MLB sponsor FanDuel today.

Well consider his life just ran out, his lifetime ban should be lifted and he should be in the HoF.

Then you’d have to do the same for Shoeless Joe Jackson…

“Rose recently was the subject of an HBO documentary about his life on and off the field, including his ban from baseball for betting on the game. In an interview with The Enquirer in June, Rose reflected on that life, the consequences of his gambling and his own mortality.

“What, are they waiting for me to die?” Rose said of his chances of getting into the Hall of Fame. “Wouldn’t that be horrible if I died next week and then next year they reinstated me?”

Rose's legacy also was on his mind in his last post on the social media site X on Sept. 21. The man known to fans as Charlie Hustle wrote about his grandson, a baseball player at La Salle High School, who'd recently been featured in a Philadelphia newspaper article. "Couldn't be more proud of my grandson," Rose wrote. "Keep hustling with La Salle baseball. The #Rose legacy lives on."

Most states would have had an age of consent of 16 back in the seventies and many still do, not sure that qualifies as pedophilia but pretty sure it didn’t at the time

I can't feel bad for Pete.  His entire life has had one unbreakable rule in baseball.  Don't bet on your own team.  And he did it.  Repeatedly.  And against his own team.  It isn't that deep.

I was in Ohio that summer that he broke the record....we would run an extension cord outside and bring out the TV to watch the Red's games while sharing a Stroh's 30 pack.

And lied about for a couple decades until he decide a different strategy might work.
