WTF are you talking about? Get out of the opium dens. Gray has 127 minor league homers.

Tristan Gray College, Amateur, Minor & Independent Leagues Statistics | Baseball-Reference.com

Okay that was CS.

18 homers per year...in the minors.

But he's been primary a corner in fielder for most of his career...so that's not totally unexpected.

Still looking at 650ish, maybe 675 ops production with below average defense in all likelihood at the major league level.

"Only Columbus, Durham and Rochester played home games in ballparks that favor hitters in terms of home run rates and run rates. Of these, the Clippers' Huntington Park is the most hitter-friendly park in the IL, with Durham Bulls Athletic Park a close second."

😂18 homers per season is indeed quite different than “less than 30 homers over 7 seasons” lmfao

Start Tristan at SS and lose 125-130 games....good luck with that one.

"Promoted in September 2023, Gray had been an org soldier through the Rays system as part of the return for traded OF Corey Dickerson. He was given a single-digit jersey, and stuck around long enough to hit his first career homerun before being sent back to the minors and designated off the 40-man roster at the end of the season.

Gray is known to be a utility defender, with the chops to play primarily SS as needed, and a Grade-A human, so it’s no surprise it’s exactly the type of player Bendix would target as he looks to transform the Marlins into a forward looking organization, even if Gray is a minor league depth signing."

https://www.draysbay.com/2023/11/17/23965650/rays-ss-tristan-gray-signs-with-peter-bendixs-miami-marlins

"Gray has played in just 17 big-league games for the Athletics and the Marlins last season. There is not much to write home about those games as he posted a .152/.222/.273/.495 slash line with one home run. He does have a .765 OPS in seven minor-league seasons. He has also hit 82 home runs over the past three seasons in the minors.

While he is 28, this is another signing the White Sox should be making to see if he can still be something given the expectations for winning this season is super low. Plus, he can play second and third, so he also has a shot to make the club in a utility role."

I will!  Just watch!

I think CHSN will register a 0.0 local share like the Astros at the beginning of their rebuild...

Gray is also a NRI... his options don't get used if he gets sent to Charlotte. No reason to add him unless he straight up wows in camp.

Yeah I don’t see a scenario where he makes the team. A lot would have to go wrong.

Challenge Accepted!

So did Joey gallo make the team yet? I never realized how much I dislike watching Vaughn at 1b until Joey buckets entered the system. I think that’s a guy you could build around.

I’ll watch you watch the games. Will maybe be more entertaining than watching the games.

Joey Gallo? What we building another 120 loss club?

I actually think it'll be worse... especially once Robert gets moved.

Why? You don't think any rando can OPS better than Robert's 2024 .657?

I sure hope you win this argument against whomever you're having it with. LOL.

Nobody in this string suggested starting Tristan Gray outside of you.

Getz’s best outfielder last year before he was dumped was Tommy Pham with a .710 OPS, so I guess it’s possible.

that guy rocks, that's all there is to say about it. "we have juan soto at home" sorta vibes.

"Tristan Gray looked viable, and he hits a bit better and has way more power than Amaya. Plus, Gray has 2 options left.

I also think it's telling that when Colson Montgomery was scratched, yesterday, Gray got the call to replace him, not Baldwin, even when Baldwin was on hand to replace Benintendi when he was pulled for x-rays. "    WestEddy

So what are YOU arguing here, exactly?

A non roster invite is a better option than  Amaya and is seemingly the club's preferred option to another rostered prospect Baldwin at SS but shouldn't start???

Compelling evidence....but perhaps Baldwin was in the bathroom, under the weather or in some other way indisposed?

Maybe Baldwin is already on the team in Venable's eyes (due to versatility) so they want to see more of Gray instead?

Or he was being held to PR/PH later at a different position such as LF CF RF 3B or 2B?

I wasn't arguing anything. It just feels that if they're going to shoehorn Monty into the starting SS role, the IF bench player could come from a group that has Amaya, Baldwin and Gray in it. Maybe more.

Amaya got a good look last September and OPSed a robust .419. We're in week two of a 5-week spring training. You'll probably see the preferred 2B/SS pairings in the same lineup more often than not - soon.

So not starting Montgomery (since he was presumed to hurt on a longer term basis by some) not starting Amaya ... not starting Baldwin?

You clearly prefer Rojas as the starter even tnough he's GG Caliber at third and Venable announced a preference for Vargas at 3B and Rojas at second.

So that means you want who exactly... Maton instead?

You can keep guessing and making up things I never said, if that's what keeps you occupied on a Saturday evening in China.

Dream scenario would be Ramos, Baldwin, Meidroth, Vargas/Sosa, infield 3rd to 1st, but they have other players on the roster and in the organization. Beyond the manager saying Vargas has a clear path to 3B innings, and Vaughn name on the scorecard in ink, everything is up for grabs. Of course, they're not scoring 10 runs a game, so I should probably be careful calling the position battles "interesting".

White Sox  19 actual RS in 7 games. 2.7 runs per game.

#2/3???

(Well the Cubs have 62 in just 6.)

Braves just 31 in 7 (4.43), but a 5-2 record due to only 18 runs surrendered.  Sounds pretty good.

Astros just 30 in 7.  Still over 4. 4.3 rpg.

Twins 24 in 6 (3-3 though). 4 runs per game.

Marlins 25 in 5. 5 per game.

Red Sox 27 in 6. 4.5.

That's almost 50% worse than the second worst offense in the entire major leagues...which is not very easy to do, actually.

Well...pretty much only you and Schiffren would have called that comeback exciting or compelling.

I made "fun of the offense" not scoring 10 runs per game...when they've failed to register even 3 as an average.

What's acceptable now, in both yours and Getzie's minds?

3.5?  3.75?  4?

Let’s try to get to a 3 runs per game average before getting crazy here…

Baby steps.

He’s awful but I’d honestly rather see if he can have a decent couple of months finding his power stroke than watch anymore Vaughn

Dude, if you're going to stalk and troll me, I'm sure you can find much better material than thinking runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the 9th is "exciting" and finding the utility bench battle "interesting". Here, I'll give you some:

White Sox will win 53 games.

Vargas will hit .250.

One of Booser, Murfee or Steven Wilson brings back a nice prospect, better than Yhoiker Fajardo.

There you go. Run with it.

Wonderful. Need a guy like that.

I was doing a bit but in reality I bet he would out-OPS Vaughnie and be probably the only league average hitter on the team. Vaughn is not a good baseball player, which is too bad, because he seems like a nice dude.
