Why are people taking victory laps? The Marlins saw a little over 1 season of Jake Burger and said no thanks and moved him for some back end top 30 organizational prospects. Nobody won that trade.

Everyone here defending the Burger trade lost. I won the message board argument. Acknowledge me.

Which guys?  Jankowski?  He will be DFAed within seven days.  Tauchman has been a legitimately productive OF for the last few years despite every poster here calling him “crappy”.  Slater was one of the best hitters against LHP from 2019 to 2023 and was almost certainly a recommended “buy low” target of Fuller’s.  I wouldn’t have added Taylor with the other two vets already in place, but Taylor is an elite defender who put up 2 fWAR/season from 2021 to 2023.  Fletcher, Colas, & DeLoach can’t even hit AAA pitching in the second most hitter friendly park in AAA.  People are demanding Getz be fired for losing 121 games last year and then turn around and complain about him adding what should be a 2 win RF platoon vs. the -2 wins they got out of the position last year.  At this point, people will whine about everything.  The people who were applauding the additions of Eder & Fletcher when first acquired are now throwing hissy fits about Getz being a total idiot for trading for them in the first place.

Other than Robert, our OF is godawful, and I refuse to pretend otherwise.  Even if you want to make a case for a marginal improvement over a young guy, these are deals on 30something players who will be long gone by the time this team is .500 again, let alone when they are good.  Literal zero chance of them helping the Sox to winning baseball.  Why we should be excited to waste ABs on guys who will be on 16 inch fields somewhere by the time the Sox are good again is beyond me, and I am definitely not about to get excited about it.

There is only one Original Tribal Chief, and you ain’t it.

I’ve been making this same argument all offseason.  Apparently, no one is having it.  Obviously Robert has to start in CF and I understand that Benintendi has a bloated contract so he needs to play, but he can DH.  Our corner outfield spots should be young players.

Marlins are pretty great at talent evaluation, after they bring them up, am I right?

Not to mention that it IS the 121 loss season that dictates what this roster should look like.  If we were an 80 win team, looking to get to 85, sure plug around the margins and bench every young kid.  Knock yourself out.  But we aren't.  We are a historically bad team, with absolutely nothing to gain long term by playing any of these guys.  Even if it is a 1% chance that Colas and company vs the Dunder Mifflin softball team guys's 0%, you go with the 1%.  With as many times as I have heard about how we have hired all of these great dev guys, hitting coaches and coordinators and everyone else, why the f*** are we absolutely afraid to give them a chance with any of this younger players in our system?

Who said you should be excited?  The point is you guys continue to call Getz an imbecile for rocking a 121 loss team last year and then when he finds a way to improve one of our worst positions from Y24 with no budget and where there isn’t a single minor leaguer worth a damn you guys call him an idiot.  If he hands Fletcher the RF job and he proceeds to put up a -2 win season you guys will rip him endlessly.  It’s damned if you do, dammed with you guys.

The way to improve a terrible team with no outfield talent is to acquire young outfielders and try them out.  Giving at bats to old vets may add a couple wins for this season only but does absolutely nothing for the team long-term.

Because Burger is still in the Majors and teams still want him and he still a very good hitting a FB.

I think we're allowed to be silly. If Getz had made that trade you know damn well people would be taking victory laps about Getz poor judge of talent just like they are with Fletcher.

He's an imbecile if he thinks a marginal improvement in 2025 is more important than discovering talent for 2030.  That's the entire point here.

Trotting a bunch of below replacement level OFs is somehow going to improve the team?  What am I missing here?

Fletcher, DeLoach, & Colas aren’t major league talents though…we don’t need to give them 600 plate appearances to confirm that at this point.

Neither is the rest of the roster, but here we are.

Well, we know who I would’ve acquired last month to play a corner.  Worth a try over vet bums.

Tauchman isn’t a major league talent?

I’m not even against Canario at this point…but he hasn’t been DFAed yet.

This is most alarming to me. Everyone is hanging their hat on all these changes and hirings being made behind the scenes and here we are DFA'ing people this regime just traded for one offseason ago.

Most of the hires were talking about didn't happen last year.

Hope Thorpe can get healthy

So a potential fifth OF that won't be around past this year, all so we don't have to play anyone under 30. Do we need 600 PAs to figure that out?

Again,  why am I supposed to be so excited about a dev staff that we are absolutely afraid to use?  Hell  there was a million other DFAs of guys with control past next season who were out there besides the ones that we couldn't apparently do anything with here.  Why are we so damned scared of acting like we are trying to build a team for 2030 and not 2025?  That's what you should be doing when you lose 121 games.

DRose was just on the radio...what did Schiffren say to him lol?

Short half inning.  Seems he's opening up a flower shop to employ local youth.

Vargas first White Sox 3B to lead off season in lineup 1st spot in order since Don Buford in 1966.

5th OF?  Dude was 81st overall amongst all OFs in fWAR last year and only had 350 plate appearances.  He’s been a productive player for three straight years.
