caulfield12
C.Montgomery no strikeouts but no hits either so far. Zavala almost up to a 700 OPS....Jeral Perez just north of 800, playing 2B tonight (yet another 2B/3B but not a SS, unfortunately) Braden up to 15 RBI's with W-S, .310 / .989 OPS Dash leading 10-8 in the bottom of the 7th inning. GreenSox
We can yap about the bullpen, but it's not much of a stretch to see the foundation of a good pitching staff. Birmingham has 4 guys throwing relief right now who would probably be 1-4 in the Sox pen. WE have 3 good starters right now, and a couple of studs in the minors. But not overwhelming depth, especially when they might have to use some of it to get the position side, which is not so easy to visualize, up to spiff. Benintendi is already a big anchor, so I don't know why Getz adds more of that type with Slater, Rojas, Taylor (who at least plays elite defense). Vaughn seems absolutely intractable, and that is absolutely weird. A lot more benefit from playing Baldwin, Julks and Fletcher and a continuing Palacios' audition. The primary problem is that Baldwin doesn't hit well enough to carry his negative defense at practically every position you play him at. He almost has to be a 2B not to hurt the team, and that's not even assured. And relievers (unless they're elite closers or amazing lefties like an Andrew Miller who can go multiple innings) won't bring you much of anything in return unless you package 2-3 of them together. I assume you're referring here to guys like Pallette, Coffey...Grant Taylor now??? Originally, Garrett Schoenle was also on one poster's list, but has seemingly fallen off. Oppor or McDougal also profile here if they can master the whole command/control aspect of pitching.
Autumn Dreamin
ICYMI Jake Palisch is starting now and he's been really good at it? First 3 starts of his career: 16IP, 4H, 1ER, 3BB, 13K. This includes 6IP/1ER tonight to drop his season ERA to 0.90 (He had 8 appearances in relief previously, for 14IP/2ER) Knights and Barons both have some arms who can help in Chicago soon. Anyway, clean sweep on the farm today thanks mainly to lots of offense. Zavala got pulled after not running out a ball to the wall yesterday, and demonstrates the lesson learned by hustling on this one: Gonzo's got a new bat and is slugging .463 in May: Not sure if something's still nagging Tacuhman, but Julks looks more Chicago ready than he does.

Doesn't really matter with Fletcher/Julks vs. Tauchman, as Mike's currently on the MLB 40 man roster with a guaranteed major league contract. Both him and Benintendi will likely displace Capra and Palacios (although that would take away Venable's go-to #3/5 hitter with a career MLB ops in the 660's)
