Shane Smith has the second best BAA on change-ups of any pitcher in MLB, barely over .100.

Jalen Beeks, a reliever is first (that's for 30+ innings pitched, for qualified pitchers, Smith should be first).

Additionally their pitching staff is on pace to lose about 2 WAR YoY.

In general they still really really stink.

Maybe that's JR's plan. Get this team so bad, people get excited about being "mired in mediocrity". Its' a lot easier than shooting for 2nd place.

Shooting for second place is no longer cost efficient for him.  You might make the playoffs!  Could you believe that, nobody wants to spend that money
