hogan873
Tim Elko walks it off. Vaughn would never. Meidroth on base 5 times! Burke had a nice game. There is light at the end of the tunnel for team ownership. What a day. 4
PaleAleSox
It sucks how much more "complete" this team would look on a daily basis if Luis Robert was just even slightly bad. Great win today and a good series overall. 2

Now I have to read the Ishbia thread .
DoUEvenShift
Hopefully the walk-off gives Elko some confidence. He seemed pretty lost at the plate and probably hears the noise of everyone expecting him to just mash right away. Meidroth is definitely a guy. His baserunning needs some work, but that's an easy(ish) fix. His batting average .312 puts him tied 11th in MLB and 7th AL. His OBP of .401 is 9th in MLB and 5th in AL. He doesn't qualify yet but if he keeps playing everyday he should within a month or so. Martin, Houser, Smith to face the Royals this weekend. Let's take 2/3 at a minimum. Sox are 4-0 on Friday home games with the new City Connects so let's keep that train rolling. 1-0 in the pre-Ishbia Era.

Imagine getting back some highly ranked prospects for him at SS/CF or both? 😢

He has a 127 wRC+ while playing a slightly above average MLB defensive SS. That's a helluva player. 1

Highland
This team is actually watchable. Nothing like last season's nightmare. 1

He's a part of the past . He can theoretically get you a couple of good prospects who cost you minor league money not $20M per year for just 2 years with the 2nd year being likely a labor strike year. He's a part of the failed past and not the future. Elko's hit more HRs than Robert has since he's been called up on May 10th and that's with being sent back down for 2 weeks. Robert hasn't hit a HR since May 2nd. Since May 13th Robert , in games he's started is 10 for 62 with just 2 doubles being his only extra base hits. 4 RBI in those 17 games. The Sox record is 5 and 12 in those games. Since May 10th, in 11 games he's started, Tim Elko is 7 for 39 with 3 HRs and 6 RBI in those 11 Games and the Sox record is 5 and 6 .

Can’t argue with anything you say, I’m just hoping for sort of a miracle with Robert, he’s a great centerfielder and is a hell of a base stealer. I would hate for him to somehow get it back and then to be traded and becomes an all-star somewhere else.

At home yea, on the road they remain pretty lifeless. That O's series was some awful baseball. We made a bad O's staff look like the p**** Patrol era in Oakland. That said, at least we're just regular old bad this year instead of historically awful. On a related note, Meidroth's statcast after that series is fun as hell. he almost instantly made an adjustment to get him back on track after hitting way too many early count FBs in the O's series. Being 94th percentile in range at SS is going to play as well, despite having a below average arm and sprint speed he makes a ton of plays. He has excellent instincts as a defender. It's likely inevitable that he'll find his swing again one day, maybe even this year either too late to get much for him or after he traded for a modest return . I'd just bid him a fond adieu an hope he can turn it around even if the Sox get little for him. There's a chance he continues this slump all year and he then becomes a Free Agent since no one will gamble $20M on him. If that happens it'll be interesting to see what a team is willing to spend on him if Boras remains his agent.
