Keith Law on Noah Shultz's promotion to Charlotte

Recommended Posts

I was listening to Jeff Meller on the radio pre-game show yesterday. He interviewed Keith Law and Keith had a real negative view on Shultz going to Charlotte. Law thought Schultz should stay down at Birmingham to work on his control. Law also touched on Hagen Smith who is also have major problems with his control and I thought he also mentioned a velocity issue.

Sorry I don't have a link; it was an on-air interview. I was bummed out, the saving grace to me is Law said the Sox staff feels very confident about the move. I would really like to hear some opinions from our board because we have excellent minor league coverage.

I don’t hate any reason that keeps guys off the MLB roster prior to the lockout at the end of next year with so much uncertainty, unless you can get some guys on team friendly, 7-8 year deals before said uncertainty.

Hagen is also out hurt.

I think the latest report was that the elbow issue resolved and they were workingon mechanical issues.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but Bannister was tweeting some Schultz-related stuff. There must be some good reason they want him in Charlotte over Birmingham working on stuff.

Interesting. It was pretty clear they were doing something with working on his pitches. I wonder if they will let him go back at AAA.

Law honestly says nothing positive when it comes to the Sox.

Lets please not start this again, it's not true. he has been the high man on Braden M . He was the low man on Colson but the reason for that is he was observing and reporting (and as it turns out, correctly)

The only guy he was truly wrong on was Chris Sale.

I still remember Law's reaction to the Shields/Tatis trade: "Oh, No."

I appreciated Bannister's tweet although I think you could read it as an indication of an underlying problem that Noah maybe hasn't yet fixed. Walk rate is still through the roof after all, so I would have thought the metric for success here would be to keep him laying off the cutter until he can fill the zone with the other options. That said, I'm not going to freak out about the promotion. Maybe they want Noah to get roughed up a little bit to get him to learn a little bit more about the consequences of not being on top of your game.

Law always saw Crochet as a starter through the darkest of times?

And was high on Rodon as well?

Law was high on Rodon.  He didn't like Crochet to stay healthy.

Law is kind of a douche, but isn't anti White Sox.  His pitching analysis/contacts/insiders are spotty at best.  He does have knowledge/contacts about hitters.  He hits on hitters in his analysis more than not.
