JR to be deposed in Sox Park shooting lawsuit

Recommended Posts

Nothing about this makes sense but I do lean towards outside the stadium. The woman behind this lawsuit is the same woman who people are saying snuck the gun in. Not sure what she would bring a lawsuit forth if she is the one who had the gun.

As the story states, CPD "almost completely dispelled" the idea that the shots came from outside.

But then they leaked to ABC that they think the shots were fired from 6 miles away due to Shotspotter data. Perhaps we will get the real answer from this lawsuit.

I mean, they came out really loud that it was her and she snuck a gun in the park.  If she can prove none of this is true, they are in what I would consider deep s%*# lol

God it would be awesome if the prosecution was a rabid Sox fan, and just asked him a ton of questions about the state of the team, why did he hire La Russa, why hasn't he signed a player to a $100 million dollar contract, etc. 😂

The problem is that they are all in on it — the CPS teacher with rolls that shot herself with her own carry piece and was quickly escorted out of the park (that also doesn’t live in Chicago, yet is teaching at a CPS; ain’t gonna lose that pension), the CPD by order of the mayor due to the female teacher being friends with the mayor, and Jerry Reinsdorf.  The magic bullet theory is absolutely ridiculous.  Regardless, the truth will never come out for obvious reasons.

My buddy has a friend in the CPD that told him this right after it happened.

so what kind of weapon would that take?

I don't think there will ever be a real answer

I thought the 26 year old is the one who people think brought in the gun?  And I think the theoretical shots from outside the stadium were much closer than six miles.

Evidence tending to show that Plaintiff did not bring a gun into the park would not prove what she is alleging, namely that (According to John J. Malm, attorney for Plaintiff) “The defendants had a duty to protect attendees from foreseeable dangers, including firearms. Our client, an innocent attendee, suffered serious injuries as a result of the failure to take proper security measures, we believe.” The lawsuit highlights concerns regarding stadium security protocols by the Chicago White Sox and At Your Service, LLC, and oversight by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, which owns Guaranteed Rate Field."

In order to prevail, Plaintiff would have to present evidence that it was more likely than not that the gun she was shot with was smuggled in by someone who got past stadium security/metal detectors and that WSox security was negligent .  Not sure how she can prove that or really prove anything other than two people got shot and they have the bullets.  Perhaps there is more evidence we are not aware of.  IMO, taking Reinsdorf's deposition appears to be a litigation tactic designed to intimidate Defendants into settling this as a nuisance case. That said, I doubt JR would be intimidated by this move.

Wonder if her strategy is to score a (perhaps small) settlement from a White Sox organization that may "know" they are in the right but are worried about what topics may come up in the depositions.
