It's obvious the coaching was the reason we missed the playoffs.  Pencil us in next year. Getz amassed all that talent.  The coaching staff held them back this year.

Coaches and managers are always hired to eventually get fired.

Well after my rant in the other thread, maybe the Sox see the need to have coaches instead of over the hill players acting as coaches.

  • Maybe  Clevinger is going to pivot into coaching.

  • Look at Ray Ray Run
    Look at Ray Ray Run

Amazing to see so many coaches released after the "B" performance that was filled with positive things.

The talent that played at a 67 win pace for the second half of the season? All of that talent? A quarter of whom were in the org before Getz took over? And they refused play to over all of the duds Getz did bring in?

Please tell me your post isn’t serious…

I thought it was obvious.  But my post wasn't serious.

Is Katz the only person in the organization with a four-letter last name ending in "tz" being fired?

Leo Getz ? Search your movie memories Luke !

Hint : Lethal_______ 2, 3, & 4.

Reinsdorf's accountant.

LOL - I haven't seen those movies in ages.....probably never for #4.

And the Mets begin the purge:

Nice of Cohen to finally let Stearns hire his own people....  no wait...

It's not often I champion some of the bloggers causes, but it would be nice to see literally any of the credentialed White Sox media ask Chris Getz about these firings, especially in the case of Katz, who has had so many successes happen under his watch.

See if Fegan can go there...but likely not.

Any rumors as to who the Sox might hire? The Mets cleaned house in a similar way and announced some hires today. I'm thinking it'll be internal guys but that would be pretty boring.

I haven't seen anything beyond this one set of listicles dropping a bunch of names:

10 potential candidates to become the next White Sox hitting coach | Sox On 35th

10 potential candidates to become the next White Sox pitching coach | Sox On 35th

if I had to wager a guess about the pitching coach, it'll be Zaleski. Or Bannister has some guy in mind from outside the org. I like the idea of someone with Tom House kinds of credentials, even Mark Prior, solid MLB pitchers who maintained an interest in academics during/post playing career. Someone who actually knows how to teach.

Why would Prior leave the Dodgers?

Bored I'm because they're too talented and he's paid too well?

Also LA pretty much leads the league in pitching injuries.

Imagine if S.Smith and Martin got hurt this past year.

There's not a list of 8-10 possible replacements in Chicago.

The Sox aren't going to outbid someone so as to hire away a top candidate so that probably limits them to promotions (internal or external) or already jobless candidates.

I don't mean Prior specifically, I mean a guy like him who felt it was important to finish college in addition to playing baseball. Craig Breslow is another example of a solid pitcher turned executive (director of pitching for the Cubs/Chaim Bloom's replacement in Boston)  who apparently graduated with a double major from Yale and deferred medical school so he could play baseball. I think this sort of background is less important for hitting, but you might like a guy who could look at the large amount of pitching data, biomechanical or traditional, and be able to implement some programs based off it at the game level. One thinks Katz wasn't so good at this.

Don’t think he finished college, pretty sure he came out after his Junior year

Oh, just graduated, not like finish out 4 years with the baseball team.  Ok, well I don’t really find that super important for a pitching coach but to each their own

Why would you say this? They pried Venable, Bannister, Walker McKinven and Joel McKeithan from jobs. Another team looked at Mike Gellinger as a hitting coach, and he was already too highly paid to increase his salary.

Why would I say the Sox are cheap?  Are you serious?

And then you listed a literal promotion who had never been a MLB manager as dude number 1 on your listicle.

You didn't say the Sox were cheap. You made a bunch of lazy assertions, most of which were wrong. Venable was the "it" girl of managerial candidates that winter. All the people I listed were not "jobless" when the Sox hired them. Gellinger is paid too well for another organization to easily hire him away. Sure, if the Marlins had to have Venable, the Sox probably had a ceiling of what they'd pay, and they'd have moved on to their secondary candidate.

Lazy huh?

Venable got a what?  Promotion.

Bannister? Promotion.

McKiven?  Promotion.

The last dude you listed somehow took a demotion, which is probably telling, but sure.  That's one out of four for your listicle.

Would be interesting to know what Barfield is getting paid now vs AZ.

Same with Gene Watson in KC...that was more of a lateral move.

Hahn as Asst GM is the only one we really have any reason to believe was highly compensation those last 3-4 years before 2013.

And who wouldn’t want to accept a promotion from a team in which the organization has historically not fired their front office people after years of poor results?

Also, how low are Sox fans’ expectations that it’s even impressive to sign a first-time manager?  It’s not like a first-time manager is going to command a ton of money like Craig Counsell.  The Sox bread and butter throughout the years (minus the awful TLR best buddy hire) has been signing first-time managers because quite simply Jerry is cheap.  Just sad how low the expectations are with this team.  Jerry has brainwashed everyone.

“Listicle.”  🤣

The story was TLR got paid something like $3 mil to be here.  No word on what he is doing now.  The rest?  Yeah, no.
