I did see where they had openings and were looking for two interns to positions as well.

Forgot three fired Koenig last year at this time.

Well after my rant in the other thread, maybe the Sox see the need to have coaches instead of over the hill players acting as coaches.

  • Maybe  Clevinger is going to pivot into coaching.

  • Look at Ray Ray Run
    Look at Ray Ray Run

Amazing to see so many coaches released after the "B" performance that was filled with positive things.

The consensus is that the new manager is totally cleaning house and coaches are jumping for whatever they can get.  Main hitting coach Asche is likely gone as well.

See thread.

Guess they're planning to draft a hitter 1-1...

He might as well camp out in Birmingham/Charlotte as Braden's personal hitting coach until Montgomery is promoted.

Can then work with Antonacci, Carlson, Fauske, Lodise, Bonemer and hopefully the next Sox impact bat from the draft.

The Mets were 147-165 (89.1%) on SBs despite not having a particularly speedy roster, by far the highest success rate in the league (Cubs were second at 82.1%). Soto in particular credited Richardson for his career high 38 steals this year.

Considering the Mets' deep pockets, one assumes the hangup isn't money, so...Getz should make a call?

Yea, Sox could use improvement in that area.  Should be a priority especially with the lack of power.

edit, delete.

Sox haven't announced their new 1st base coach, right? Did I miss that?

Royalstalk is probably bitching they are hiring White Sox rejects. The most important thing needed to be considereed a really good hitting coach or pitching coach or manager is good players.

You don’t think Marcus Thames is going to show Bobby Witt Jr. how to improve his swing?

I mean, if I were (godforbid) a Royals fan, I wouldn't be happy to get a guy the White Sox fired.

Thanks for remembering my quote,

I don't believe so

"The Royals hired Marcus Thames to serve us a hitting coach under Alec Zumwalt, the senior director of hitting performance and hitting coach. This comes just three days after hiring Connor Dawson as a hitting coach."

Apparently JR was unhappy that Thames was too friendly with Ohtani.  Can't link the picture at top of article.

"Each unit (four teams he coached for/with) was among the top American League teams in home runs. A big emphasis was the ability to generate power and drive in more runs. In 2025, the White Sox finished the second half of the season by scoring 4.85 runs per game.

The Royals have notable power hitters in their lineup. Both Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez reached 30 homers and 100 RBIs. Bobby Witt Jr. just won a second AL Silver Slugger Award at shortstop, and Jac Caglianone is an emerging power threat.

Caglianone could thrive under Thames’ tutelage. A lot was made about Caglianone’s ground-ball rate this season, and Thames could possibly unlock his ability to lift the baseball more. Thames has worked with both Luke Voit and Shohei Ohtani..."

Story at Royals Review and oddly enough, none of the commenters bemoan the hiring of a White Sox castoff.

Ok, that is hilarious that I have got you actually reading the comments of Royals articles to try to get a reply up to a castaway comment.
