I will be honest, it might have gotten him in the door at the beginning, but it is no where near why he is one of the best in the business.  I can't think of another person in sportscasting who has th

Another hot take. Benetti is fine, but he wouldn't be as revered and acclaimed if he didn't have a disability.

Jason Benetti hailed for 'redefining' broadcasting

Brodcasters includingJoe Buck and Ian Eagle praise Jason Benetti after Benetti's ascension to the lead broadcast role for MLB on NBC.

As a Sox fan though, I am glad Bennetti is gone. The toy shelf, Sox math, eating sloppily during broadcasts...I don't know if he pulls any of that sh1t on NBC.

Some fans do not like Schriffin which I understand. However, it appears that he has been trying to correct mistakes and make changes as he learns on the go. Look, he has a tough job following the Hawk, a hall of fame announcer. That and always having to demur to Steve Stone - an odd match in the booth.

Look, if we win games, who gives a sh1t.

Are you suggesting you forgive Bennetti for having to follow a HoF'er? Because he did, Jason followed Hawk...and Scriffin is following a future HoF'er...Bennetti will be in the HoF! Bennetti is AWESOME!

The whole Eating on the Air thing is absurd. No announcer eats on the air of their own. They get told by their bosses (looking at you Brooks Boyer) to do promos for stuff in the park and make it look amazing for what it costs. Blaming Jason for it is ridiculous.

Yeah, but have you seen the way he eats?

Is there any game footage out there of this actually happening? I know that Benetti ate during some broadcasts, but I thought the “sloppily” or “disgusting” part was just some comments that Jerry and/or Brooks Boyer relayed back to him at some point, which may or may not have even been true?

The White Sox Told Jason Benetti He is "Disgusting"

As if the earlier details of Jason Benetti's departure weren't egregious enough, these next details are even worse.

Schriffen is slowly growing on me. He seems to have ditched the southside stand up (or at least I have yet to hear it) which I am eternally grateful for. That was extremely cringey. I liked Benetti. I understand why he would want to go up to do bigger and better things. I think he has a fantastic broadcaster. It is a bit odd that he calls games for Detroit. Like the guy grew up a Sox fan. It’s just weird. I like him and props to him for getting national attention, but I do feel like he should pick a lane at some point. Go national or stick with a team.

I understand from a Reddit thread I read some time ago that Bennetti apparently enjoys throwing some shade at the White Sox during Tiger broadcasts. As far as I am concerned anyone who disposes of loyalty for money can fvk all the way off.

I can see why you hate Jerry so much then.

But do they eat more according to civilized rules of society at 35th and Shields or the 78?

Maybe because Stone gets a s%*# ton of days off. Probably more than Benetti requested even.

Adds to the rivalry.

Can't be too partial to the Sox as the rival Tigers guy now (and a known lifelong Sox fan) or that would be dissected.

Like Chris Rongey liking the Cardinals more than the Sox, for example.

Stone tells everyone how great the food is, yet there is about 2 menu items he would eat. If the team didn't like how Jason ate, why didn't they stop the promo? The downgrade to Schriff is like firing Terry Francona and replacing him with Pedro Grifol.

Schriff might even be better to listen to than McKnight and Beckham paired together.

Scary thought.

Haven't minded him as much recently with all the Mune hyping around the franchise and 1-1/2-41 pick excitement.

The Sox seem to love burning bridges when they fear they might be left/abandoned first...why is that ambition to be among the best such a negative thing in a broadcaster, GM or field manager?

Full Stop Here:

Jason Benetti left the White Sox because they wanted him to leave. Brooks Boyer pushed him to go find another job.

If there is anything I hate, it is revisionist history.

Yes, I too hate revisionist history about the plight of baseball announcers...such maddening stuff with so much import to society.

I don't care about prior baseball announcers. Are we playing tonight of not?

Oh I get it. You are so funny cauli.

I’m actually with tray on this one. I don’t really care who the announcer is.

A good broadcaster enhances the viewing or listening experience and helps connect fans to the team.

A poor, bad, mediocre one does more damage in these areas than you might think.
