But regardless of what you think the chances are of it happening, is it a waste to use Taylor in a game that another pitcher subsequently loses? What if using Taylor as an opener reduces the chances o

  • I hope you keep the honor for a long...long time.

  • Quero really needs to start catching the throw from the outfield.

Not mad about the loss they fought. But Quero had the deer in the headlights look

Maybe Quero shouldn't hit left handed

He’s the anti-Moncada

We'd still be playing if not for Hays blowing out the hammy

Damn, well at least pitching looked good.

Well, they showed fight. That was a big ask, but the hitting just ain't good enough.

And for the record, this is my problem with Taylor as an opener. We used him in a game where we didn't score until one out left in the bottom of the 9th and lost. We used him in a game we effectively had zero chance of winning in the end.

Yep, offense just lacks so much punch. OPS for most of roster is so bad

nine consecutive wins for Baltimore in Chicago

not getting the big clutch hit seems familiar

obviously different hitter there with teel healthy

Can’t wait for Teel to return!

murakami still around 900 but struggling now

hays will be replaced by garbage (or Sosa)

antonacci will be held down for service time game/manipulation

This is a legitimate point. If you keep using him immediately in first innings, you don’t have the option of either using him in high leverage situations or saving him in blowouts/likely losses.

Yes, and they went down fighting like Major Leaguers.

My hunch is Quero felt distracted by the runner on that last play but also I assume it was a hit and run so it certainly shouldn't have taken him by surprise.

Another one of those luck things: Sox hit balls with xBA of .270, .540, and .280 in the 9th. One of them was a hit so that's about neutral luck...but if either of the first two had been hits, the game would have been tied. Instead the last was hit in a way that got the runner to the base safely but not in a way that could score the runner.

Nice game from the pitching staff, iffy game from the offense, ultimately it's decided by random stuff that won't be repeated.

Chuck and Ozzie blaming the weather for the Sox never getting off to a good start. Losers.

Hopefully in 10 days we will have Teel, Baldwin, and Antonacci. With 3(+?) big arms potentially coming up to

I'm with you. I think it is a stupid strategy TBH. I'm open-minded about openers but it's supposed to gain you a platoon advantage and ideally you don't use your best relief arm for it. In this case it only helped with platoon splits in Kay's start and it of course has always deprived us of him later. Today is effectively a wasted game especially given that he's going to need at least a couple days of rest after going 3x in 4 days (I assume).

won't see any of those 3 guys without warm weather/domes and favorable matchups

maybe mcdougal in relief first

sandlin or cannon first
