May 28May 28 What's the deal with this Boston Smith fella? He's a little old for A+ (23), but not egregious. He's a catcher that is posting a 1.043 OPS with a .294 BA, .435 OBP and 9 HRs in 30 games in A+. He's off to one hell of a start in A+. He is striking out 30% of the time though. Gotta lower that a bit. Getz got him for Mead. Kudos to Getz once again. Hopefully this guy can become a major leaguer.
May 28May 28 3 IP for Mason Adams in his 2nd rehab start with WS. 2 ER on 3 H and 1 BB.His control looks a bit better than I expected this early.
May 28May 28 Jacob Gonzalez with 2 HRs today. Mashed both of them, which is nice to see. Would have gone out in any stadium. His home-away splits still scare me (1.206 OPS home, .756 OPS away).

May 29May 29 Gonzalez might be legit now…feel nervous saying that, but it’s starting to get hard to ignore the numbers home park be damnded.

May 29May 29 This infield situation is going to be fascinating next year. We have a SS who is on pace for 6+ fWAR, a 3B on pace for 5+ fWAR, and a 2B on pace for +3 fWAR. Throw in Roch, Gonzalez, Burgolla, & Baldwin and there simply isn’t room for them all even if you assume Antonacci sticks in the OF.

But, we have a such a glut of players here that we can certainly absorb losing him, even if he turns into a 4 WAR player as you noted, for now we (crazily) have a few of those types. In more immediate concerns, how much longer can you really keep Gonzo down there? Two weeks? If he keeps hitting even anywhere close to this he can probably help us as our weakness is backup SS general utility infielder. We're at the point where if we keep around .500 we need all hands on deck. They brought up Sandlin suddenly so it seems the Sox are thinking similar.

Ideally we find a true LFer to play there instead of Antonacci. Eventually we'll have to deal Meidroth IMO. I wonder what type of value he has as a 3 WAR 2B under control for a while.

It may have all been a slow start and this isn't a fluke. Edited May 29May 29 by GreenSox

I don't know how he's done it, but if you look at his swing it's transformed. Maybe it doesn't work in MLB but dude was a slap hitting shitter coming into pro ball and now he's like a legit big load big power lefty that also can play a solid middle infield.Tickles me pink to see another lefty slugger (for now at least) coming up. What a great time!

Too bad he's a lefty and our team is damn near all left handed.

I think once we get to the All-Star break there becomes a real chance that they consider cutting bait on Andrew and open up the DH for a rotation that could include Gonzalez.

There's no world in which we eat all the money imo. What a horrific deal by Hahn, you just can't explain it, never made any sense.

He will likely need at least 1 full year in the minors and so we're really looking at some point in 2028 and we'll see if Colson is still a defensive maven at SS then as his stats say he is now. There are alot of moving pieces and unpredictability but yeah things could get crowded at certain spots at some point and that's a good problem to have where you can trade some surplus or blocked players for other needs at some point.
