White Sox Collections

Featured Replies

Figured it would be fun for the board to share their White Sox memorabilia collections with other members. So here’s a thread to talk the collecting side of baseball.

Some of my best memories as a kid center around when the Sox would come to Anaheim to play the Halos. My Dad would take off from work and make sure we saw every series. We’d hang out before and after each game to get players autographs when they were entering / leaving the stadium.

Most of that stuff is in storage so I can’t post any pictures. Instead, I recently decided to start collecting Sox hats. Here’s the result of my first buy. 😆

In the corner are two of my favorite items we got signed when I was a kid… a Rawlings Big Stick professional model bat and a fitted hat both signed by Frank Thomas. At the time, I didn’t even reach his waist line. 😆

I have far too many White Sox hats and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll buy one I like from 47 and give the box to my son or wife and they will give it to me for birthdays, fathers day, Christmas....I'm happy and by the time I get it I usually forgot what I ordered.

My favorite memorabilia came from my fiancee at the time...Minnie Minoso had visited the law firm she was working at and she got a signed autograph dedicated to me. She said he was the nicest man.

Awesome to hear the Minoso story!

I would like to see other White Sox collections. My White Sox mancave was featured a few years ago in Sports Collectors Digest and Sports Collectors Dailey.

While I appreciate the mass produced, and have plenty of them, I love the 1 off and pieces with a story.20260612_090908.jpg1909 Chicago Tribune article about the future opening of Comiskey Park

20260612_090740.jpg2 stock certificates from the 1950s, signed by Comiskey family members.20260612_090820.jpg1977 tickets printed for the playoffs that never happened.20260612_091131.jpgMy custom autograph case, including special season baseballs from the 83 all star game, 05 world series, 91 Comiskey opening, 03 ASG, etc.

I have a signed baseball from Mike Sirotka. My wife worked with someone who knew him, and it was mentioned I was a Sox fan so he signed a ball and got it to me.

Where did you get the stock certificates?

Ebay over the years. They are rare, but very occasionally pop up.

I have a number of items but two of the ones that I like the best are the actual front page (framed) of the Chicago Sun-Times the day after they won the pennant in 1959 (I sent the Sox the rest of the newspaper) and three framed autographed baseball card collections from Sox players that I've interviewed. Each frame holds between 10-15 cards.

Would love seeing pictures if you could snap a couple and are willing to share.

I'll see if I can get around to doing something like that. I also have framed newspapers from when they made the playoffs in 1983, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2020 and 2021.

I've done a lot of work for the Sox and they have been very kind in passing along a lot of items as a 'thank you.' For example I have a brick from the original Comiskey Park, signed jerseys from Konerko, Moncada, Ramirez and Quintana, signed balls from Sale, Anderson, Abreu, Moncada plus a number of signed photos including guys that played in the 1950's and 60's like Pierce, Ward, Hansen, Kaat.

Yea brother man - I’ve been wanting to buy your book for well over a year and have just had next to zero disposable income forever.

You may be confusing me with someone else, I've contributed to books on the Sox, wrote two chapters in the next one Dr. Fletcher is putting out, but I've never written one on my own.

Indeed, I was mixing you up with another poster brother.

My Dad's favorite pitcher was Billy Pierce.

His second favorite, Damaso Marte.

That is some range there.

I litterally thought, “holy smokes” before reading this sentence 😆

Your dad has unusual tastes! 😄

I prefer eclectic

Favorite player was Old Aches and Pains

I got different uniform hats than you. I have the red , white and blue one from the 83 team. A red one from the Chuck Tanner years though I'm sure it's not that old since I think someone gave it to me but it was pretty beat up . I got one with the 2003 All-Star game symbol on it. Various World Champ Hats from 2005 .

Various Frank Thomas Figurines from Starting Lineup and Sports Illustrated. A picture on my wall above my TV that's from the Cooperstown Collection with a small hologram symbol on it as certification of Old Comiskey with some history of the park on it. Designed to have the look of a blueprint . Various T shirts, windbreakers generic jersey or shirsey and a nice letterman-style jacket. Lot's of baseball cards. 3 or 4 1990 Leaf of the Big Hurt. Lots of other White Sox cards though none recently . Might have Wheaties Box from 2005 too. A game day ticket stub of the 1st game at the new ball park in a nice little holder.
