I think they will be ambitious: two starting pitchers (one rental and one controlled); a right handed hitting catcher, and a right handed reliever. Think we are fine with lefties but we only have really one high leverage righty outside of Taylor.

If I'm giving up someone like Carlson I like this approach far more then the Detmers type of moves. Presuming no one thinks Webb is due for a longer-term regression (ie is his stuff declining). Also make sure he profiles okay at the Rate vs. Oracle.

Hopefully two competent starting pitchers. They can survive with the mediocre catching if they absolutely have to but you have to have the pitching down the stretch.

I think Seattle shocks the baseball world and will be the team that trades for Skubal.

With Peters’ fall from grace and Grichuk + Periera stinking it up, I think Getz will now bring in another OF.

I’ll take him and his full salary along with a pitcher, Torrens and a reliever and we trade a PTBNL that never gets resolved (like the Hicks/Sandlin trade apparently).

One legit starter and one back end starter. For catcher I’d like them to work out a deal with the Cubs for Carson Kelly.

Teel has, for all intents and purposes, made himself into a back-up catcher because he can no longer be relied upon to catch for a full season or even a part of a season. If you tend to agree with that, then you can see why the White Sox should be looking for a catcher that can be the starting catcher moving forward. That level of catcher is going to require a top prospect - Carlson or dare I say, Bonemer. That is an unacceptable cost, especially considering the need for pitching and the reticence to trade top prospects. Yea, Teel really screwed himself and the team with his latest injury. That put Getz in an untenable position - make a costly trade or live with sub-par catchers the rest of the season.

Teel might be back this season. And his latest injury was a complete fluke. You are jumping to conclusions here. What was his injury history prior to this year?

At this point in time I honestly have no idea what they may do (or not do...)

They obviously need help in some areas but at what cost? Especially for a team that appears to be ahead of schedule with very limited post season experience. And won't be considered a favorite if they make the post season.

Do they really try to go for the best available? Historically that doesn't seem to be in the Sox DNA under JR and remember he's still involved in things.

Does the upcoming labor lockout factor into their decision one way or the other?

Lots of internal moving parts for the Sox.

If I had to guess, not hope, I think the Sox will make some small moves but nothing earth shaking. Kind of trying to split the middle.

They can tell the fan base, "we tried" and at the same time tell the team, "we believe in you, now go out and do it."

That probably satisfies neither group but again the Sox under JR don't take a lot of risks or act aggressively. The last time they tried a few years ago, it blew up in their faces (Hernandez, Kimbrel, Tepera) and JR probably remembers that.

We'll know what happens soon enough.
