Whoever gets Peralta, he’ll return to form. Playing for the Mets is a curse.

Without a doubt. Met's are a soul sucking org. Wouldn't wish playing for them on a dog.

If my scouts like Peralta, I’d do Wolkow+ but that second prospect would have to be less than Smith.

  • Emotionally, I don't really want to part with Wolkow cuz he's a local guy that seems to be progressing. Obviously, he's expendable. Intellectually, I'm more attached to Boston Smith. Tearing up the So

Fully disagree on Wolkow. Teams have shifted towards prioritizing youth and ceiling in these types of deals. You say he’s been spinning in circles for a long time, yet he is a 20 year old in High A

If is doing some heavy lifting here. Realistically, he's got a better chance of being out of baseball in 3 years than he does being a major league contributor. There's nothing wrong with a guy like this, but he has a LOT of work to do, that he probably won't be able to do.

There's plenty of player's in this years draft to replace his value. I'm not concerned one bit about trading him. I'm probably overrating Boston Smith. Something about him I don't want sell low.

Look, if the Sox are already looking to put him into a deal like this, it probably means they see something limiting his ceiling at the major league level. If they saw him as a top end catcher, this deal doesn't get traction. Could they be wrong, sure.

I'm fine with filling the bullpen with in house pitching. McDougall ,Hagan Smith etc .

B. Smith only concentrated on catching in his last year of college, where he caught 44 games (if memory serves). I think he's got a couple years of starting in the minors before he's regarded as an accomplished catcher.

That's if this is true. Also they're not always right. All that said. If it happens I won't lose any sleep over the trade. All the best prospects would still be intact.

I may have already written this in this thread, but he didn't even call pitchers in that one year of primary catching in college. So he's having to learn that on the fly. When he was talking about pitch calling/sequencing in an interview I heard, he really gave the impression that he knew next to nothing about it. Almost gives an insight into his hitting that he's up there with an empty head just hacking at whatever looks right (might be more gift than curse, TBH)
