Also looks like the Sox need to send just a few more scouts to Curacao.

Jurdrick Profar ... not so good.

JFC that is embarrassing.

Yeah, much better to hear JR for the last 45+ years, minus an aberration. Am I right?

I’ll be honest…I’d have been way more mad if we dealt Bonemer or Carlson for Detmers for this deal.

If you took out Boston Smith, maybe the trade would make some sense. I can’t fathom how taking on a worse contract than the one we gave up required us to give up a legitimate prospect. I don’t even

See the long line of relatives…(Profar also had PEDs concerns around him due to trainers)

Acuna brother

Tatis brother

Guerrero Jr. cousin

Juan Uribe’s son

KW Jr.

Hoping for a lot more out of Landon Thome lol

And that’s why Marco Paddy is now with Salesforce, which I guess is still better than WeWork

It's still dumb as hell. Why are we trading for a supposed 33 year old "project" who was one of the worst pitchers in the MLB when we are trying to make a playoff run? It doesn't help up this year and probably hurts is next year given his salary. Trying to justify the trade is pure cope. Getz got too cute and got taken advantage of.

You guys have said this about every single trade the guy has made. I'd guess every convo started with "Caleb Bonemer plus...". I appreciate that you're mad about Castillo sucking. Nobody's trying to "justify" this trade to you. But you don't seem to grasp what has been explained multiple times.

Don’t look now but Mason Adams just had another solid start against a good team in the Braves on the road. Perhaps Getz didn’t need to give up anyone of value for a viable starting pitcher for the rest of this season and the future.

Chris Getz did such a good job developing prospects, even the scrubs he trades will be aces on other teams. You better get used to it. Weird that through all the arguments in 2024 nobody was exclaiming, "Getz didn't deserve to be made GM. He never developed anyone....except that Mason Adams. That 14th round pick is going to be something!!!"

A part of being a good GM is not only knowing what MLB players to trade for but also which prospects you shouldn’t give up.

I also never called Adams an ace, but being better than Castillo right now wouldn’t be difficult and that is now two good starts in a row for Adams. I said he would look like an ace compared to Castillo’s starts with the Sox.

When you've developed all of them to be All-Stars, it doesn't matter. I join you in thanking Chris Getz in being so great at his job.

Get back to me when Castillo has his second good start.

Why hasn't JR given him an extension yet?

Did you also thank the Bears' front office?

Get back to me when you're ready to admit the White Sox developed dudes that you stroke it out the window to their first two starts with another team.

The only one that be “STROKIN” is you to the poster of Getz on the ceiling above your bed.

Out the window?

Defenestration?

If those were Sox starts he'd be in the Second Half HOF compared to Castillo's/(aka Shields') 9.31 more serviceable ERA.

They HAVE to put him in the bullpen and allow Fedde to continue starting and / or bring up Thorpe or Sandlin.

Enough.

This was the argument over Benintendi and he's finally contributing something at the end of that record-breaking deal.

Unfortunately, Castillo now cuts off likelihood of significant FA spending...if it was even possible in the first place.

Never underestimate the stupidity of this organization. NEVER!

James Shields in his first 6 starts with the Sox in 2016:
26.1 innings, 42 hits, 27 ER, 7 HR, 16 BB, 16 K, 9.23 ERA

Luis Castillo in his first 6 starts with the Sox:
26.1 innings, 38 hits, 22 ER, 8 HR, 8 BB, 23 K, 7.52 ERA

Did the Mariners call “no take-backs!” after this trade? Can we take a mulligan and get Boston Smith back for this absolute turd?

The thing that worried me about Castillo when we got him was the amount of homers he had given up this season. He has done worse here. I guess we should be grateful for the one good start he had, huh?

Giving up more homers than 2016 James Shields really is an accomplishment.

Was hoping this would be closer to Edwin Jackson, who Coop turned around got nearly 2 WAR out of in the last two months of 2010 then Shields. Time well tell.

Just an absolutely stupid trade. I have lost some faith in Chris Getz after this move.

You need scouts who know the organizations; never trade any serious resources for players teams are overtly trying to get rid of. We didn't pay much for that 2B from Cleveland in 2021, but it sure cleared the way for the rookie of the year for 2022. Colorado is hapy to be rid of Doyle. Trades on the other teams terms. Knock it off. And until they figure out how to knock it off, stop trading: buying is for suckers.

Edwin Jackson was in his prime at age 27 when he had those 30 good starts with the Sox across two seasons. Castillo is nearing 34 [and retirement]. This isn’t really close to the same situations. Baseball is a young man’s game. Not usually for players in their mid-30’s.

Like I said, the Sox would be a better team right now if Getz simply made no trades at the deadline instead of the horrific ones he did make. Mason Adams would be in the rotation right now and we would have Hays or Pereira instead of Doyle. Boston Smith in the minors too.

Doesn't take a scout to know Castillo sucked and is likely cooked. They were trying to get rid of him, nobody else wanted him, he had negative value, and you actually gave them something in return. Everyone called the trade garbage from the start. Just inexcusable.
