I like Guff but love the job he has now. Tbh I'm a bit agnostic only because when I'm out and about, I just put on the radio. Len and DJ are just so good. For me, Kaspar is a future HOFer as a radio broadcaster. It's people like him and Rooney that made me fall in love with the game.

I agree, Len and DJ are phenomenal. I hope they both stay on the air for decades to come.

I listened to today’s (8/23) game against the Mets, and it’s so much better than the Schriff experience. He doesn’t let the game breathe at all. Against the Cubs, there several times where he tried to get Stone to engage in Cubs bashing or Wrigley bashing, and Stone didn’t bite.

Schriff needs to stop selling the Sox to Sox fans. We’re watching the game already. Not sure why it seems like he’s trying to convince me to be a fan.

DJ was terrible (terrible!) when he started, so there is hope for Schriff, but perhaps he can listen to some games called by the best announcers and learn from how they back off and let the pictures on tv do some of the talking.

The Saturday evening broadcast...7th inning I believe....out of nowhere Scriff starts talking about Caitlyn Clark...that he has tickets to go watch her Sunday night (??)...and I think Stone had no idea what to say. Eventually Stone chimes in (paraphase) with "well, if this (White Sox v Mets) game keeps going the way it has, tomorrow's game will determine who wins the series"...

WTF Scriff? WHO CARES! Time and place Scriff...he is just so bad!

wonderful. burn that place to the ground. i don't buy it though, in the same breath he s%*# talks the red line about how dangerous it is. which fair enough, but still, shut up about it.

little bit pedantic. you know who the last sox announcer was, right? that guy talked about literally everything except the baseball game. yet, people think he's the best announcer in the world.

Benetti talked about the history of the White Sox all the time! And he did incorporate things like "Sox Math" or whatever it was called...but even that included White Sox history! Night and day difference between Benetti and Scriff. Not even close! As I said in my post...time and place! Scriff doesn't get that! It as though he forgets he is broadcasting TO White Sox fans...and the basic interview type questions he asks Stone to answer are annoying as well! Maybe he is better suited for an ESPN type broadcast...maybe!

There is literally nothing on the positive side for Schiffren except for enunciating words.

He's not a baseball guy and doesn't really know the game

He's not a Sox guy and doesn't really know the organization

He's not a particularly gifted or dynamic broadcaster

So why retain him? What would be the point? Even though he is improving, improving from an F to a D+ doesn't mean you should have the job

I would rather have Connor McKnight or someone who at least has been inside the org and is one of us than this guy.

I feel bad criticizing the guy. He seems like a decent guy and especially since someone suggested that he might check fan forums. But, I think the Sox should move on from him and find someone else.

"If any of those radio losers clip it and try to make fun of you, nobody cares about them anyway." I'm not really feeling the "decent guy" characterization when he is on the record saying s%*# like that to escalate a war that started with fair criticism of his lack of knowledge.

In John's defense, nobody does give a s%*# about the "talent" on 670 the Score.

Why defend it? I don't want a broadcaster whose skin is so thin he can't even take radio hosts rightfully criticizing him.

Whether or not the radio hosts are good or bad is hardly the point. Be better, do your job, maybe get some thicker skin. Or get the hell out of town.

Hawk Harrelson used to battle people all the time (Joe West, Jay Marriotti, etc). It's entertainment.

Fair point....and he said that coming in as a new guy with a historically bad team. At least he's dropped that kind of nonsense.

As much as I hated Marriotti, it used to make me cringe when Hawk would start going off on one of his "hiney bird" rants against him during a broadcast. I mean, he wasn't wrong, but still it wasn't exactly Hawk's finest moments on the air. Joe West is different because his ineptness and huge ego was actually affecting the game.

But, Hawk was Hawk, he was a broadcasting icon. Schriffen came in as a nobody who didn't even know how to pronounce "Veeck" with guns blazing against the local media.

Especially since his job invovles describing some pretty low moments for the players HE is describing, and THEY aren't supposed to react to it either.

In his case it typically wasn't beause they criticized HIM as much as they hurt the White Sox in general. He never really seemed to care about the personal attacks. I will also say the thing I liked least about Hawk was the constant stream of team propaganda that he fed.

Guys, the WNBA/Cunningham talk ends now. Go find a Reddit to argue in, it’s not happening here

Yeah, 670 is a complete dump now a days.

That's fair.

I don't even know if you can consider it propaganda though, because Hawk truly believed the homer s%*# he was saying. He wasn't trying to gaslight the fans. He truly believe Chicago White Sox baseball was the greatest thing on the planet haha.

Hawk called into 670 to rip into Boers and Bernstein. Classic. I miss this type of stuff.

The Score was never going to give him a shot to be well received. Doesn’t take a genius to realize why.

I'm not a Schriff guy, but this is true. Dan (and I think Holmes) were unbelievably butthurt about Benetti leaving and Schriff replacing him. Dan still has a personal vendetta against Schriffen because of it. Pretty ridiculous to be that upset just because he replaced Jason.

They just fired Mully and replaced him with Jarrett Payton. Talk about boring, Payton and Haugh seriously?

Nah, that first interview with them was so dumb from Schriff. He was trying to argue with them that the Sox were going to surprise the league and be a problem. Instead they surprised the league with many problems and lost 120 games. Pretty sure that was him and Spiegel, I don’t recall Bernstein talking to him. I think that first interview was the last
