8/16 Gamethread - White Sox at Tigers - 12:10PM CHSN - Burke vs Anderson - Let's Sweep 'Em!

Burke not losing velo as the game goes on. I think those two weirdly slow fastballs are probably not fastballs although I'm not sure what they were supposed to be from looking at their pitch shapes.

There goes Will again, trying to lose a game again on purpose with his lineups. Wait a second...

  • Finally someone besides Romo gets it done. More of that guys...Drew can't carry you bums forever.

Will does a lot of great things but burning the bench too early is a bad habit he has. It's a 4-4 game in the 6th, you have a decent chance of going to extras. Stop blowing up your bench too early.

Sure seemed to be within the two seconds, but we will take it

I wonder if the ump heard anyone shouting out to challenge, that would be grounds to not grant one if he feels the batter received an instruction regardless of timing

Ump is missing a ton of calls

One of the ironies with ABS is if the ump is having a bad game, you're more likely to run out of challenges and be victimized further.

Watching this and thinking about a post season run. Ugh.

Got to be a tougher out

How many Ks does CMont have with the bat on his shoulder.

Back in my day, every pitcher strived to hit the low outside corner to a righty with their fastball. That was the default spot, the one you felt like you should be able to hit with your eyes closed. That particular pitch is going extinct. I think the new generic spot is up and in to a righty (up and away to a lefty). Unfortunately for Colson that's the no-hit zone for him, although he's hardly alone and that's part of the reason every pitcher is trying to calibrate everything to hit the top of the zone reliably.

Sox getting on need a big hit

Missed a hanger

Seems to me every at bat starts with him fouling off a high and away fastball

Typical s%*# the bed and give up 2 games in the standings. They refuse to have a long winning streak and put themselves well above .500

I'm not bringing any data here so I might be completely wrong, but I feel like when Colson is going good he pretty regularly would have those head-scratching takes of strike three. I remember thinking it was a side effect of him trying not to cover every single pitch, which was the thing that always got him in trouble.

Yeah I can’t be mad at all about winning 2 of 3

You need really good starting pitching for long winning streaks and we don’t have that.

Colson costing us so many scoring opportunities, sit him a couple of days or put him lower in the batting line up

Flip him and Meidroth

Balls seem to be carrying to left field. I thought Keith's HR looked like a routine fly out off the bat.
