    The correct move.

This is an important series. If the Guardians go on a big run, which isn't impossible given they have the easiest remaining schedule, Texas is the biggest competition for the final wild card spot.

  • I have been just trying to enjoy this improbable season, but I am getting a little anxious to step a boot on the divisions neck.

Right. Because I'm not an idiot. I'd be wondering what's going on. Thanks for bringing me back to the reality of normal person sports fannage.

Like I told you before, take up the Keaschall rumors with Dan Hayes.

And no, I am not parlaying Adams or a potential rental starter as an ace. Where did I ever say that? But you don’t think Adams or a rental starter would be helping this team right now more than a CF that swings a wet rolled up newspaper?

And you don’t win arguments by predicting the future on what you think people will say. Now you sound just like Miss Cleo, I mean Cali.

I think Thorpe will help more than Adams, and Doyle will help more than Pereira. Adams doesn't play a good CF.

So far neither has Doyle

Jo Adell murders LHP. This team has 5 potential outfielders that all suck against LHP

JFC, they took a gamble on having a great defensive CF over an occasional masher against LHPs. Grichuk mashes LHPs. I'd guess they think they think they can make Doyle a better hitter then they can make Adell a better CF in the next 6 weeks.

Doyle's played a fine CF. This wasn't a World Series Championship team heading into the TDL. There wasn't a series of trades that was going to make this an awesome, ass-kicking team heading into the playoffs that didn't deplete their minor league system. Seriously, people are pretending that Boston Smith, Mason Adams and some guy who's on a hot streak in the DSL gets us a HOF starter, another top starter, a SS better than Colson, 2 catchers, and f*** it, 5 bullpen arms. Like, you people can make up BS, why can't I?

Despite Adell being a good fit for the Sox, I don’t even care that they didn’t get him. Pretty obvious they’re going to let Braden play every day no matter what. The whole point of all the frustration is the Sox additions have been very bad, while the Guardians have been good. There’s no denying that Adell has sparked that offense, and Griffin has been better than Cecconi.

I also don’t feel bad when you say Getz was limited at the deadline, as Jerry clearly let him add a pretty substantial salary for the rest of this year and next.

The idea behind acquiring Doyle is the same as Vargas. See if they can fix some of his flaws and turn him into a valuable OF option. Guy puts up anywhere near a 100 wRC+ and he's a valuable player with his defense.

Maybe they could've grabbed him in the offseason, maybe not. Take him now, get to know him, help him out more this offseason and see if you can get something valuable for a guy who likely is gonna suck in the majors and be a decent reliever at best.

The Sox needed help for the playoff run, not just the future control that came along with these guys. Getz acquired a couple projects with future control because Jerry likely isn’t going to let him spend much in the offseason. But these guys are literally projects in down seasons — Castillo and Doyle. As we have already seen, the additions haven’t helped much.

Angels. Don't disappoint me here

Come on halos

No pitcher has better stats but sucks whenever I watch than Cade Smith

Cleveland has won 5 of 6 getting to play the best of the best; SF, COL, LAA. Only 2.5 games up now and Cleveland still has 2 more with LAA then play KC at home

KC are the hottest team in baseball right now

They were 12 games back last year at this time.

But that's not what they were going for. They weren't looking for rentals and I don't blame them because rentals are a crap shoot - the one they did go for out of dire need broke his hand after 3 games.

It also was going to be REALLY hard to get 2 or 3 starters of any note at the deadline, plus a better outfielder, plus a catcher, without completely draining the minors. Foster Griffin is probably the guy they missed out on the hardest.

Detroit also collapsed in September and went 7–17. If we go 7-17 in September then yeah we're gonna lose the division.

I had no memory of that, so when I heard it tonight, I was stunned.

So if there was no series of trades that make this team a legit contender without trading their top prospects, I’ll take back Boston Smith, Mason Adams, etc., cuz the guys Getz got for them stink. I’d rather have the younger guys back.

Good stuff…I will say thought that taking a step at the big picture for rest of the season, it doesn’t matter who they acquired at the deadline, if Colson, Mune, Meidroth and Antonacci continue to perform this way, they won’t make the postseason. Batting average is clearly not as important as it used to be, but they’re hitting .229 as a team since the ASB. It’s really coming into play lately with RISP.

And you agree with. LOL. I'm not raging at anything. It would have been insane to trade for Adell. Weird that you guys aren't fawning over Adell's equivalent from Urquidy or Castillo.

I don't believe the Sox had the prospect capital to compete for a true "go for it" TDL. Their top 6 prospects would be gone for rentals, who weren't even difference makers. Seriously, you going to start Kevin Gausman in game one? I'd rather s%*# in my fist and squeeze it.

They're not trading a Top 20-30 prospect in milb.

Only Skubal fetched that for Zhyhir...who was still only their fourth best OF prospect, and third best on AA team.

And payroll flexibility next year

Outside of Bonemer, there wasn’t a single prospect at the deadline that should have been untouchable. It can’t be overstated how much the terrible pitching development has crippled this roster. Guys like Newcomb and Taylor have been incredible picking up the slack.
