Thoughts on tonights game.

-A much less violent night in the stands. I was in section 113 which was fairly close to where the action was last night but nothing happened. I guess when fans have to pay full price for tix they have less cash on hand for alcohol.

-Nice to see Loaiza as sharp as he was tonight. I wanted to see him pitch the 9th to finish it up but its all good cause we won & I got to see Shingo make a couple of batters look silly.

-Valentin finally figured out how to lay off a curve ball after K'ing on one in his first at bat. The fans in my section loved it when I yelled at Valentin to lay off the curve. On that pitch he got that single on he was out in front again. He couldn't hit the fastball either cause he Ked twice on fastballs. For tomorrow's game he should go out there with a telephone pole to see if he can make some solid contact.

-Is it just me or is Konerko drawing a lot of walks lately?

Not really in his last ten games he has walked 8 times. But in his last 2 games he has walked alot 5 in his last 2 games.

I'm just glad we got this win.

Now we just need to take the next game and 2-3 from the Angels are we will be fine....

I was at the game tonight as well (a friend of mine got a couple of first row upper deck seats for free!) And would have to agree with you observations Nuke. Konerko's eye is better than ever and Jose looked pretty bad for a 2nd night in a row.

But how about that Frank Thomas? He's really hitting the cover off the ball. His first homer got out of the park in a HURRY and his missed a second HR by inches. Also, he hit a rope to Blalock in his third AB but Blalock made a sweet play on it. If he keeps this up he'll be an all-star come June.

Other than that E-Lo pitched his best outing of the year...gotta love it when our guys rack up the K's. Quite the enjoyable game, much better than last night and pretty painless drive home. :D

Konerko has been drawing a ton of walks lately, I was in row 110 tonight and I was thinking the same thing. Are you going tomorrow nuke?

I was very glad to see Jose get a hit after 7 straight K's in two games. Can't lay off that curve ball away is right.

Go Sox!

Whew! I'm glad that slump is behind him.

I've been impressed all season with Konerko's ability to work the count and draw the walk. He's done an especially good job battling a pitcher when he's behind in the count.

And depsite his low average, I think Konerko is hitting about .385 with runners in scoring position, so he has came up with his fair share of clutch hits. Hopefully he can get his average up though cause he still jams himself too much.

Once he does that, with his new found patience, he could turn into a pretty high OPS guy.

He's about about .265 I think. He'll get it up there to between .280 and .300 and maintain it in that range, I believe.

That was my last Sox game this season cause I've got stuff to do tomorrow night then i go back to Korea to finish my tour there on Friday.

Oh well, at least the boys got me a win tonight so their record when I'm there improved a little.

You sound like you were pretty close to me. I was in row 1 in section 113. Did you, by chance, hear me screaming at Valentin to lay off the curve when he was up? Everybody around me was laughing like hell when I was ragging on him.

exactly.....keep winning series and I'm happy :D

My thought on the game: I hate CLTV! I don't have it and it was blacked out on FSN+. :fyou

:usa :usa :usa And let me third it. Thanks for faithfully serving your country, and stay safe in Korea. How much longer do you have?

God Bless ya NUKE!! Stay safe and thanks for doing what you do!!!!!!

Just an interesting tidbit from last nite's game. I was there as well.

It was the first of three "teacher's nights" at the ballpark. Teachers got 75% off their ticket price for anywhere in the ballpark. Thus my girl and I got in for $14 and 2 seats down the left field line.

I believe the next teachers night is July 8th.

Yes....especially once the playoffs start... :D

Credit that also for Cubs fans not willing to pay full price to start trouble.

The highlight of my evening was meeting the man that caught Sadam. I don't know his rank but his name is Hickey. I went up to him and his friend also military and shook their hands and just said thanks. If was a little more sober I would have tried to say something a little more intelligent.

I must say, it was very cool.

Colonial. I heard the first pitch on the radio. I would have rushed home if I would have known in advance who was throwing out the first pitch.

I hope everyone cheered like mad for the guy.

I got till December in Korea then I'll be transferred back to the U.S. somewhere.

It aint nearly as bad over there as it is in the sandbox so I can deal with it real easy. There's always Soxtalk to keep me up on whats going on with the team & where I can rant about Valentin or Caballo  so its all good.

Take care Nuke.

As for last night’s game. The first thing that pops into my head is Esteban. He looked very good. 9 K’ s is something since he doesn’t have that much K’ s. Good job Loaiza!
