June 2, 200421 yr My friend who works in the Sox marketing department told me this after the Sox lost today. Magglio Ordonez and the Sox are close on a contract extension that would be worth 6-years and $80 million dollars. I hope he wasn't pulling my leg, but he sounded serious. By the Way, i am new site. It's very cool!! However, take this for what it is worth.
June 2, 200421 yr Wow!! Sounds too good to be true, but hopefully it is true and it seems like a good deal for both.

June 2, 200421 yr Welcome to Soxtalk ColdBlood . So let me get this straight.. the original deal was 5/70. Now it's 6/80?
June 3, 200421 yr If this turns out to be true, this will be the greatest first post by a soxtalk member, ever.
June 3, 200421 yr Overpaid if we actually pay him that much Unless JR is increasing the payroll, in which case I am fine with it, this will be another stupid move (like overpaying Botch and Paulie and C Lee) that will hurt our chances of ever winning the big one
June 3, 200421 yr Sox R Us at some point you have to pay a guy what he's worth on the market. If the Chicago (small market team in big market) White Sox can't keep Magglio Ordonez, then disband the team. Nuke the team. Baseball still wants to downsize anyway. We must keep Maggs.

It's very cool!! However, take this for what it is worth. It's the marketing departments job to get the fans excited about coming out to the park. Hmmm, I wonder what they would be tring to attempt with misinformation. After 3 days of the NY media reporting maggs wouldn't sign an extension -- Which I said was total bulls*** -- The sox(your friend) finally decided to combat bulls*** with buls***. Sure some people may get excited, but those people believe everything they read or hear.
June 3, 200421 yr We need some sort of official Magglio contract thread, that way all the non-sense is in one thread. I'm tired of this already.
June 3, 200421 yr cough troll cough Maybe he's the same Guy who posted that he knew someone in the Padres front Office and told us we traded Valentin to SD for Kevin Jarvis

I personally like to hear the "through the grapevine" stuff, though I know there's a good chance things won't work out that way or that tomorrow it could all change. And welcome to Soxtalk, BTW.
