September 5, 200421 yr I am probably one of the few people here that still have some hope for the 2004 team. We are 9 1/2 out, but we also have 13 more games against our division! Including 6 against the Twins. If the Sox get some heart, and play their a$$es off, I believe it could go down to the wire and we can manage to get back into 1st place. I am still nervous about the series with the Rangers and Angels. That could be a tough one. I also think that it is unfortunate that we have Diaz and Grilli pitching in some of these games but if our offense steps it up and Ozzie takes them out if they are getting drilled, we could still win! Your thoughts....
September 5, 200421 yr Read the sig... Twins magic # is 19 with 28 games left....' That number decreases by one for every Twins Win and by one for every Sox Loss -- Translation.. Snowball's chance

September 5, 200421 yr C'mon I see no reason why we can't win out from this point till the end of the season... :rolly
September 5, 200421 yr If we can go 6-0 against the Twins, we still have a shot at the division. If we can go 5-1 against the Twins, we have a very slim shot at the division. If we go 4-2 or anything less, the division is for the Twins.

September 5, 200421 yr No, no and no. They lost any chance they had when they took the month of August off. They're done. Haha, I agree with that more. Now if only Minnesota takes off September, but that's not going to happen.
September 5, 200421 yr We could sweep the Twins and finish only two or three back. It's over. NO one has ever come from that far back with so few games left.
September 5, 200421 yr Yeah I said we'd still have a small hope to win if we won all 6, but I doubt that'll even happen.
September 5, 200421 yr Yeah I said we'd still have a small hope to win if we won all 6, but I doubt that'll even happen. I was looking at my soxtalk wall paper and we were so damn well set up if we were only 3 or 4 out.

Your thoughts.... welcome to the board. it is nice to see someone who still have faith. i hope you are right, however, the numbers doesn't show it. as another poster suggested, if only they could have won a couple of those game they lost. oh well, again i hope you are right.

I wouldn't be suprised at all if the Sox finished off this month with a winning record, but we're just too far back, and the Twinkies keep winning games when they look out of it.

September 5, 200421 yr Twins have played 135 games with a record of 77-58. Sox have played 134 games with a record of 67-67. If the Twins go 13-14 in their final 27 games the Sox can TIE them with a record of 23-5 in 28 games. Checkmate.
