Bad gave up hits and walks. Just like when he starts a game.

Gave up 2 earned runs in 1/3 of an inning. His era now stands at 5.01

Diaz should have never been used -- He threw 98 pitches on Sunday... If he was pitching in the rotation he wouldn't even have been due to throw on the side until tomorrow...

Has to be the worst managed game of the year. I can't think of one worse.

Ozzie's whole "go out, get drunk, forget about it" routine is one thing. But throwing a young pitcher in relief two days after throwing almost 100 pitches is just stupid. There's absolutely no reason to risk injury to any of our pitchers.

Wake up Ozzie, jeez, you're killing us.

Diaz still looked better in his 1 1/3 innings than Garland did in his 1/3 inning, though that heater to strike out Soriano was nice. Wish he challenged hitters more like that instead of serving up beachballs over the heart of the plate.

We have too many pampered millionaires as it is. It's good Ozzie's toughening these wimps up.

My thoughts exactly. The guy plays short all year and we bring him up and put him at 2nd? Especially when Uribe has bee playing 2nd so much this year. :headshake

For some reason Ozzie is managing like the Sox are still in this. I really wish they would make the transition over to playing for next year. This team isn't going to make it, and they are missing a golden opportunity to give these kids a month of development. Some guys just shouldn't be playing much at all anymore, such as Timo, Jose, and Robbie. We know what they can do. We need to see as many AB's and IP's for the rookies.

Yes, some of his moves last night would be considered mistakes IF we were in the playoff race. We are not and we were down by like 8 runs in the 6th, so who cares? Part of it is psychological too, he doesn't want anyone on this team to feel too comfortable or like they are a 'sure thing' for 2005. I'm all for trying some different things. Try Gload at 1st or Burke at 3rd, does Valdez play the outfield at all?...he looks like a skinny, speedy f'er.

Face it folks, it's been a pre spring training 2005 for about a week now, I hope we see a lot more.

I see your point. Maybe, as others have pointed out, he sees both of those guys possibly in the pen next season.

In my mind, he was just managing stupidly. Bringing Diaz back makes no sense to me, managing for this year or next. Garland, I can understand after looking back and realizing he got bumped from his normal start day by Garcia.

Did Ozzie give any reason why Valdez makes his first start at 2nd base instead of shortstop where he has been playing all year? Sometimes I think Jerry Manuel is still managing!

For the last few weeks it seemed like Ozzie was starting to learn from his mistakes and was starting to finally get over some of the things that plauged his first year...

Then this game happened... You are left speechless. There is no reason for Jon to be used in the bullpen here. There is no reason to play Valdez at SS when both Harris and Uribe are more accustomed to playing 2B. It's the kind of thing that just makes you want to shake your head and turn off your tv.
