September 13, 200421 yr The free agent shortstop pool includes Edgar Renteria, Nomar, Orlando Cabrera, Jose Valentin, Omar Vizquel, Pokey Reese and likely Julio Lugo and Cristian Guzman. Those potentially in the market include the Cardinals (if they don't sign Renteria), White Sox, Cubs (depending on Garciaparra), Giants, Diamondbacks, Red Sox (depending on Cabrera and/or Reese), Rangers and the Washington Lobbyists. "It's an interesting market," one GM said. "But where last year you had Miguel Tejada being bid on by the Orioles, Tigers and Mariners, there are enough market options that it's unlikely any of those shortstops will get Tejada money."
September 13, 200421 yr please, baseball gods, let us sign renteria for valentin money!!! thanks I wish it would happen. But it wont.
September 13, 200421 yr How bout Nomar? Is he any good? Good when healthy, not very healthy the past couple of years. Heard today that his minor-league teammates nicknamed him "Glass" because "he was always broken" ( hurt ).

They won't get that much b/c none of them is as good as Tejada. Renteria is the closest, but I wouldn't think too long about that choice.
September 13, 200421 yr No to Guzman I'd take Renteria out of that List, but he's gonna cost a s***load of money
September 13, 200421 yr No to Guzman I'd take Renteria out of that List, but he's gonna cost a s***load of money We don't have the money, spend it elsewhere.
September 13, 200421 yr I would take Cabrera or Pokey Reese. Reese can bunt, he can run, he can even play 2B. Sounds like an upgrade from Willie AND Uribe.
September 13, 200421 yr I would guess, barring a trade, that it would be Cabrera. He is the best of the 2nd tier FA. Maybe this Jose Valentin guy...he hits 25 hr's a year...
September 14, 200421 yr Speaking of which Brando is becoming a f***ing laugh stock. How pathetic is he. :headshake What a moron. :rolly
September 14, 200421 yr Not sure. I lost count after 3.. OT: Ace we all know this is bulls***:**Attention Everyone** - Ace has a lady now. :headshake
September 14, 200421 yr Holy s*** that is weird as hell. About 3 hours ago for some reason I saw Mommy looked and say it was a new user and thought...Hmm, brando? You can tell from 8 posts.

September 14, 200421 yr Cabrera or Vizquel would be fine by me, if we could get Cabrera for $5 million though, I'd say that's a pretty good deal, especially if he gets back to his 2002 - 2003 Expos form.
September 14, 200421 yr You guys are just jealous. But ya I'd take Visquel or Guzman. I got a feeling this is going to become the new valentine if Omar signs with the sox, it's Vizquel ace.
September 14, 200421 yr I got a feeling this is going to become the new valentine if Omar signs with the sox, it's Vizquel ace. And it's Valentin Rowand.
