Cliff Politte

Featured Replies

That's $4 million towards the payroll.

While Williams declined to confirm that Cliff Politte and Shingo Takatsu will return to the Sox' bullpen next season, indications are that the team will pick up the contract options on both.

The White Sox are only expected to be in the hunt for one reliever and one starter for next season's pitching staff.

The Sox are not expected to pick up the option on the contract of Sandy Alomar Jr.

I hope to read a retirement notice on Sandy and an announcement he will be coaching somewhere in the system.

I do not mind reloading for next season. Keep Shingo and Cliff.

Ditto. I have no problems with either of these guys at the prices we are getting them for.

Politte is stronger than most FA relievers out there. For $1.3 mill, if he can improve on his '04 season, the price would be right

This is great news in my opinion.

Cliff started out bad but in my opinion came on real strong at the end of the year. He will contribute huge next year.

Shingo should be the setup man next year though in my opinion. We need a real closer.

I like the two pitchers, and glad to see the options picked up.

I have no problem with Politte coming back. I think he is a pretty decent RP.

as long as he's not our #1 set up man....

That has got to be shingo next year if not we are f***ed.

well, i'm stocking up on the KY jelly just in case.

I am a huge Pollite fan, so I am very pleased with him coming back next season. I expect a 3.40 ERA.

If he never had his three really bad outings his era would be in the low 3's actually probally in the 2's. So that shows how good he was outside of those the bad outings.

I know it might be too late in the game, but I would love to see Cliff work on an improved offspeed pitch to help setup his heater, and vice versa. He's almost completely a fastball pitcher, and struggles if he's not on.

I agree. The key to cliff is getting his slider over, when he gets that pitch over for strikes he's very tough to hit.

Good news. Pollite and Shingo are good men to have down there in da pen. Solid move.
