October 21, 200421 yr I'm happy for any ex-Sox player who makes it to the Series, but I hope people don't start villifying KW for making the trade again. What's done is done.

It was a bad trade...who cares...maybe Cotts can turn into an all-star with a little luck, and we can shove it down the A's throat. It's over and done with. That being said...I am happy for Keith. Always knew he was a good enough pitcher.
October 21, 200421 yr Author Cotts an all-star? Now I realize why I missed these boards But yeah, back to the topic, Foulke was one classy guy. Happy for him!!!! He definitely contributed a lot in shutting down the spankees in games 4-7
October 21, 200421 yr Author He was my favorite player, I almost cried when they traded him. He was one of my faves too.....actually I loved both Howry and Foulke. I still remember the "Foulke the Cubs" signs in one of the intra-city series :fthecubs

He definitely contributed a lot in shutting down the spankees in games 4-7 Um, ok...that wasn't really meant like he really has much of a shot at becoming an all-star. I was not being real serious
October 21, 200421 yr Good for Keith. I always thought he got a royal screw job by JM and company his last year here.
October 21, 200421 yr I still remember the "Foulke the Cubs" signs in one of the intra-city series LOL I remember that now, that was awesome. I miss that guy and he did get screwed by Manual. Osuna closing over Foulke?????? I don't think so.
October 21, 200421 yr WT.. the girls in your sig.. the one on the right looks like Jeter.... and the one on the left looks pregnant..
October 21, 200421 yr He was my favorite player, I almost cried when they traded him. You were one of only a few. I remember getting my ass lit up like a community doobie the day of that trade when I said it was a bad trade for the Sox. "BAD TRADE????? WE GOT A 'FIREBALLER' WHO WAS A 'ROLAID'S RELIEF PITCHER OF THE YEAR!!!!!'"

WE GOT A 'FIREBALLER' WHO WAS A 'ROLAID'S RELIEF PITCHER OF THE YEAR!!!!!'" People didn't realize from 99-02 foulke's numbers were much better than koch's.
October 21, 200421 yr People didn't realize from 99-02 foulke's numbers were much better than koch's. That they were What's done is done. Atleast we got a decent player for Koch(not that I have any clue how), even considering how absolutely brutal he was with us.
October 21, 200421 yr WT.. the girls in your sig.. the one on the right looks like Jeter.... and the one on the left looks pregnant.. Yeah.....Anna looks pregnant but that's just her shirt. Maria in a way does look like Derek Jeter.
October 21, 200421 yr Sorry. Enough of the Foulke Love In Let's not forget the homer to Edgar in the 10th inning of Game One in 2000 that set the tone for that sweep in the playoffs. Or his constant whining about wanting to start. Or his going to Manuel and asking to be removed as the closer because he felt like the team had lost confidence in him. Or the home run he gave up to Giambi and the Yankees that went about 800 feet and started a slide in 2002. He did some good things. He was better than Koch. But he's just another mercenary player looking for the biggest paycheck. Nothing more, nothing less.
October 21, 200421 yr The guy deserves to pitch in a World Series..... I'll miss Foulke too. He was one of my favorite and I was sad to see him go. But on paper the deal that sent Koch to us was a good deal on our end. Unfortunetly we didn't get the best of it and now Koch is a nobody...
October 21, 200421 yr We're becoming the Royals, folks. Developing guys so they can go to the high money teams someday and make it to the dance. Sell the team, JR, please sell the team.
October 21, 200421 yr We're becoming the Royals, folks. Developing guys so they can go to the high money teams someday and make it to the dance. Sell the team, JR, please sell the team. We're not becoming the Royals If we were becoming the Royals, why on earth did KW resign Freddy Garcia, Mark Buehrle, Carlos Lee, Paul Konerko, among others? was all but resigned...for something like $14 or $15 mill a year...the only thing missing was Maggs's signature(and he's regretting not signing that contract, I guaran-f***ing-tee you that). And, technically, the A's are becoming the Royals. They were the ones not able to resign Foulke.
October 22, 200421 yr Hope you are right Soxfan. We aren't signing or trading for the right guys, that is for sure.

October 23, 200421 yr I wish Foulke all the best. I think he did his best here, and that's all you can ask. I don't know if anyone here read "Moneyball". It gave the A's perspective of Beane's dealings with KW, and how he thought that trade would work out. And he was right. Although, Beane also gloated about getting Chad Bradford for a "minor league catcher" which they never bother to mention was Miguel Olivo. Go Cards....Boston would talk too much crap. I'm still hearing about the Pats. They're worse than New Yorkers.
October 23, 200421 yr We have to remember Foulke would have been gone regardless. Plus JM being the terrible manager that he was made everyone around him that much worse just from being around him. I guaruntee you that if Foulke had stuck with us there is no way he is anywhere near as good now because JM would of totally f***ed him over and blew his confidence to s***.
October 23, 200421 yr Hopefully Foulke blows about 3 games in the series and shows what type of pitcher he really is. Can't stand the guy anymore aftter the rips he took at the organization after he left or for the constant choking in big games he had while with the Sox. Here's to an Albert Pujols bomb off of you, Keith.... Go CARDS!

October 23, 200421 yr I think Kenny should be villified for that trade. Foulke was better than Koch, and then Kenny made it worse by giving Koch a $12MM 2-year contract. We traded Foulke, who was better and signed, for Koch, who was worse and unsigned. I didn't get it then, and I don't get it now. I always thought that Kenny was pissed at Foulke for being out-negotiated (in Kenny's eyes) by Foulke's agent, and he wanted to get rid of him. Trading him created a hole in the bullpen, and he filled it with a guy who couldn't get anyone out. I know Foulke had a few bad games in early 2002, but he was very effective in the last part of his final season with us. Heck, Mariano Rivera blew a few games, too. I am all for villifying Kenny. For that trade, for the Ritchie trade, for the embarrassing Berry/Barry trade, for the Everett fiasco, and probably for trading Jeremy Reed, although we must wait a year to be sure on that one. Ritchie killed the Sox in '02 and Koch did the same in '03. No one would have won with those guys pitching for them. They were both the product of Kenny's misjudgement. Plus he overpaid for guys like Jose, although that transgression is a bit minor on the scale of things.
