I found this on the player rankings for the AL. I was looking for Jaret Wright but only came across the AL Interesting what players will get what tag. Both Contreras and Garland would be type B

Rangers signed catcher Sandy Alomar Jr., who had been with the White Sox, to a one-year, $550,000 deal.

 

The Rangers remain concerned about Gerald Laird's thumb, so they'll probably have him start the year in Triple-A and go with a tandem of Rod Barajas and Alomar. Laird should end up as the team's starter by the end of the season, but Barajas will get the vast majority of the playing time initially.

Good to see Alomar could play if he still wanted. I hope we can see him back in Chicago as a coach, when he decides to hang it up.

Free agent Jim Mecir has decided to play another year, his agent, Barry Praver, said.

 

Mecir had a 1.80 ERA in his final 55 appearances last season, so there should be a fair amount of interest in him. He won't return to Oakland after the team failed to offer him arbitration.
