If he was worth anything dont you think that someone would of picked him up for anything and given him more than a single year.

Also, Cleveland has a retty good GM and he might know something other GM's dont although it is a 1 yr deal.

This just might be the worst deal of the offseason, which is really saying something. Milton receives a $4 million signing bonus, $4 million in 2005, $8.5 million in 2006 and $9 million in 2007. He can opt out of the final year of the deal just in case he actually exceeds expectations. We put the chances of that happening at 1.9 percent. Dec. 27 - 3:06 pm et 8.5 million for that. At one point in the offseason, it had seemed like offers for Perez may top out at about $5 million per season. This is more in line with what he deserves compared to what Russ Ortiz, Eric Milton and Kris Benson received. Staying with the Dodgers should allow him to keep posting sub-4.00 ERAs through the end of the deal. With Perez joining Jeff Weaver and Brad Penny, there are now two rotation spots open for Edwin Jackson, Kazuhisa Ishii, Elmer Dessens and Wilson Alvarez. The Dodgers still could add another pitcher to guarantee that both Dessens and Alvarez will work out of the pen initially. Jan. 4 - 6:01 pm et 8 mill per. This was the year for pitchers to get highway robbery. Thank god we traded for Freddy, imagine his contract on the open market.

January 7, 200521 yr It used to be you needed to have a era < 4.00 just to make a rotation. Now we see Garland with an era < 5.00 worth 4M as a 5th starter. If Garland is worth 4M then Perez with an era < 4.00 is worth 8M. MLB economics.

If they offer arbit by the deadline the player has no right of refusal (< 6 yr player). If they don't offer arbit the player becomes a FA. As I understand the CWS did not offer Rowand arbit. Is there now a deadline at which he must be signed or he becomes a FA?

January 11, 200521 yr Phillies signed RHP Terry Adams, who has been with the Red Sox, to a one-year, $500,000 contract. Adams spent 2002 and 2003 with the Phillies and posted a career-best 2.65 ERA in his second season. He'll work in middle relief. This should complete a Philadelphia bullpen that will also include Billy Wagner, Tim Worrell, Ryan Madson, Rheal Cormier, Amaury Telemaco and Aaron Fultz.
