Prediction: Which players will REALLY sign w/ Sox

Featured Replies

Hearing the names of Randy Johnson, Jason Kendall, and Tim Hudson sure does get me giddy. However I know better than to get my hopes up.

I'm interested to know what players YOU THINK the Sox will REALLY sign or acquire. Choose three players as your prediction. If you really think we're going to get Johnson and Kendall than go ahead and put it down.

I'll start:

1. Russ Ortiz (Yes, Kenny loves him that much.)

2. Turk Wendell

3. Kenny Lofton (He's available from New York. Kenny loves to bring back old friends.)

CWSOX45

1. Jose Valentin

2. No one.

To be honest, I think Kenny Lofton could be a good fit. The only problem is I don't think him and the Sox left on good terms. Lofton would come cheap (in terms of players given up and contract) cause the Yanks will pick up some of his salary.

However, I expect the Sox to acquire a good pitcher one of the A's guys, RJ or maybe Pedro and then I think Kendall will be a White Sox by the start of the season.

I'd love to have Percy, but I don't see it happening.

Billy Botch?!

Then KW can say he pried away a high priced pitcher.

LOL!

1. Cheap players

2. Players coming off injuries (i.e., Eldred and Loaiza)

3. Players traded to the Sox who's old team agrees to pay a portion of their salary

4. Minor leaguers

Juan Gonzalez, Esteban Loiasa, Bob Wickman, Pokey Reese.

I think we can bank on Russ Ortiz., and a major trade at the winter meetings. Now, we will hear how KW is satisfied going into Spring Training with Uribe/Valdez/Harris. I think we'll also see the usual non-roster invitees. I predict another loooooong winter now.

Juan Gonzalez, Esteban Loiasa, Bob Wickman, Pokey Reese.

Oh god, Gonzalez and Reese are pretty much safe bets too.

5. Players who were once quality major leaguers, but have since regressed and are entering the twilight of their career.

6. "Grinders" (See 1-5)

7. Pitcher/Positional player grugingly traded for the extremely generous 'Williams Package.' Opposing GM's treat it as early Christmas presents.

Here's who I think KDub will sign:

1. Polanco

2. Hidalgo

3. Matt Morris

Here's what I think of these signings:

No way St. Louis lets Morris go. No way

If they are serious about acquiring RJ, then I'd say Morris is gone. I odn't know what to think about Morris. He was a bum this year (on the most part) but his career numbers ar e pretty good. Still, he's going to have to take a paycut.

I dont think they will. It'd be a slap in the face to the Cardinals fan base, and that's just not something I think they would do.

As much as they like Marquis, I think he'd almost have to be apart of any trade for RJ.

Why would acquiring RJ be a slap in the face to the Cards? As far as I'm concerned their are other better options out there then Matt Morris.

And RJ would be a hell of a pickup. The Cards are a vet team that could use an ace pitcher, it may of been what kept them from winning it all. Rj would fit that, although I don't really know what they would give up to get him.

But they have been mentioned, along with the Angels, Sox and Yanks as the top suitors for RJ.

:headbang Heres who sox pick up

1.) Bob wickman

2.) Loaiza ( Kenny loves trading for same people so why not bring loaiza back.)

3.) Konerko will be traded for vasquez

4.) Kenny blames media for losing omar and uribe and harris now will be stuck starting job.

5.) Every team is going get people in our divison while we sit back as always and watch them get better.

6. Kenny will say " If were in contention mabe will trade at the deadline

7.) The whitesox with this offseason will finish in 5th in 2005 and sad to say people tigers and clevelend will be ahead of us.

Morris is a fan favorite in St. Louis. That's what I'm basing it on. The guy goes out and busts ass every time out there.

And, right now, if KW and the Sox brass cannot convince RJ to come to Chicago, I think RJ is either in St. Louis or Arizona at the start of the year, and no where else. I'm not sure how interested Anaheim is in him(though you would know better then me living in Cali), and from what I understand, Shields would have to be part of the deal and Anaheim does not want to give up Shields whatsoever. And I'm not sure the Yankees have the talent to get him, or if they want to make the committment it would take to get him(probably Posada, Vazquez, like 75% of their contracts, plus some for RJ and all of his contract).

How's this for an answer: No one worthwhile.

See; Post, WHarris1

last year i predicted marvin benard and we signed him. so this year i'm thinking renteria and beltran.

1. Jack McDowell

2. Ron Karkovice

3. Robin Ventura

The Central Division will be at our mercy.

1) Placido Polanco

2) Odalis Perez

3) Eric Young

1) Placido Polanco

2) Odalis Perez

3) Eric Young

I would consider that a pretty solid off season.

Doubt it happens, but that's beacause I am keeping my expectation way low.

1) Placido Polanco

2) Odalis Perez

3) Eric Young

I can see them getting one of polanco/young. But i highly doubt both. ;)

Touché, lol.

Although, Young could be brought in as an outfielder, and Polanco as an infielder.

1. i think our starting pitcher will come in a trade

2. i think we will start the season with harris/uribe as starters

3. i think we will sign a uitliy infielder to back up harris

4. i think we will sign a bullpen arm

how, who, when

i dont know
