November 25, 200421 yr I don't know how many of you follow the nba outside of the Bulls, but Lebron is doing things I haven't seen since you know who in his prime, at NINETEEN. He's 2nd in the league in scoring at 27.3 ppg. He's averaging 8.1 rpg to go along with 6 assists. He's 3rd in the league in steals, and is also averaging over a block a game. He's also shooting close to 50% from the field and almost 40% from downtown. I'm trying to figure out is he this good or is the nba this bad?

November 25, 200421 yr I still remember the people, some on this site, who predicted he would flop horribly. I won't embarrass people by digging up the old threads but rest assured he had plenty of doubters. He's the new face of the NBA for the next 15 years.
November 25, 200421 yr LeBron could possibly go down as the greatest player of all time. Pending he wins a few championships. One thing I know, if Karl Malone wants to be the all time scoring king, he better get back and do it soon because LeBron will have a great shot at it.
November 25, 200421 yr I just still can't believe Lebron is 19, that is just insane. He already has a complete game, people doubted his jump shot, so he worked hard on it and now its a weapon also. He is the most gifted player to EVER play the game. 6'8 240 and a 45 inch vertical. Just amazing, no other word for him. I'm just so thankful he's articulate and is a good role model for kids so far. The NBA couldn't have drawn up a better player to market their entire future around.

Right now, him, Dwayne Wade, Kirilenko, and Omare Stoudamire are playing amazing basketball. They are the emerging stars in the NBA and all seem to have pretty good attitudes. But watching Lebron yesterday put his team on his back yet again was impressive. He's freaking everything he was advertised and more. I'm impressed with the fact he plays defense and just how good of a passer he is. He gets points, assists, boards, and steals.
November 25, 200421 yr There's another kid in HS they are trying to compare to Lebron. His name is OJ Mayo, I believe he's a sophomore this year. 6'4 right now and very skilled, just not quite on Lebrons level as a soph. Lebron was the best high school player from the time he was a sophomore on. Mayo is one to watch out for, as is big man Greg Oden of the Junior class.

I remember they had a piece on him last year when he was a freshman. He was rated in the top ten then in all of high school basketball. He would shoot on average of like 2,000 or 2,500 shots per day. He use to sleep in some gym so that when he woke he could just start shooting basketballs and shooting basketballs was the last thing he did before he went to bed.
November 25, 200421 yr Why is it that the one year the bulls we not the worst team in the nba lebron james has to come out?
November 25, 200421 yr Author Why is it that the one year the bulls we not the worst team in the nba lebron james has to come out? Because we've had so much good luck since the dynasty was dismantled in 98?
November 25, 200421 yr Author LeBron could possibly go down as the greatest player of all time. Pending he wins a few championships. One thing I know, if Karl Malone wants to be the all time scoring king, he better get back and do it soon because LeBron will have a great shot at it. It's possible. But as good as he is now he's still got a LONG way to go. His perimiter game and defense still need a lot of work. His ft's could be better, although 75%-77% is not bad at all. But as we all know it's all about winning. The Cavs couldn't even make the playoffs last year in a pathetic eastern conference, and it's not a slam dunk they make it this year. They're playing well right now, but 5 of their 7 wins have come against the Bobcats twice, Hawks, Wizards, and Warriors.

IIRC, they also came down from like a 25 point deficit against the Suns earlier this year too, and the Suns are the second best team in the league win-wise.
November 25, 200421 yr Author IIRC, they also came down from like a 25 point deficit against the Suns earlier this year too, and the Suns are the second best team in the league win-wise. I know. I didn't forget about that one. I was just pointing out that most of their wins have come against some of the leagues worst teams.

What are you talking about, he's fourth in the league in steals, and he's shooting 39% from 3.
November 26, 200421 yr Author What are you talking about, he's fourth in the league in steals, and he's shooting 39% from 3. You judge a guys defense simply on steals? In that case Iverson is an all world defender. I was talking about man defense. I've seen guys consistently blow by him. That's not a knock on him. Just something he needs to work on. When I said his perimiter game needs work I meant in the 15-20 foot area. As far as his 3 point shooting goes, will see how long he can maintain39-40%.

Im pretty sure Cleveland doesnt care if he doesnt have picture perfect defense when hes almost got a double double everytime he steps on the court
November 26, 200421 yr Im pretty sure Cleveland doesnt care if he doesnt have picture perfect defense when hes almost got a double double everytime he steps on the court His rebounding numbers will drop off to about six per game by the end of the year. Which is still not too bad. He should be able to stay around eight per game since he is taller than most of his defenders but i just do not see that happening.

The fact that they had so many steals doesn't mean anything.

He should be able to stay around eight per game since he is taller than most of his defenders but i jus do not see that happening. I wasnt trying to say he would AVG a double double... all I meant was right now hes like 27.3 and 8.8 I think... And that was just for saying who cares if hes not a perfect defender when hes putting those numbers up
November 26, 200421 yr Author Im pretty sure cleveland doesnt care if he has picture perfect defense when hes almost got a double double everytime he steps on the court And when the Cavs are sitting at home watching the playoffs like last year they can talk about Lebron's double doubles all they want. I don't mean it as a diss when I say he needs to work on his d. But anybody who actually watches the games and doesn't just go by stats can see he's not very good defensively. But if he wants to be the next Dominque Wilkins and score a lot of points and give up just as many then fine. I don't think he'll take that approach though.
November 26, 200421 yr Author Yeah because guys like Stockton, Jordan, Cheeks, Pippen and Payton were never good defenders. The fact that they had so many steals doesn't mean anything. And what do all those guys have in common? They were perinial all-defensive team guys. If you really think Lebron is anywhere near those guys defensively you're nuts.
