Sure he's out of the AL...but what if the best deal was in the AL...at least think about getting him out of the division before getting him out of the league.  I know that the Sox/Cardinals/Braves/Orioles all could have put up better offers...which makes you wonder why the Braves and Cardinals(both in the NL) didn't get considered over the Dodgers??  Though a deal with those teams can still happen cuz of the current hold up or whatever is causing this deal not to be done.  Beane better hope a deal like this doesn't happen cuz he can get so much more.

makes sense..but i still think the Braves and Cardinals rumored offers are good deals for the A's. I don't recall them at the moment though.

If Cora is moved he will play 2nd. But its pretty much a guarantee he'll play 1st. The Dodgers have also tossed out the idea of him playing 3rd but its just something they'll use for leverage with Boras and Beltre.

One major different, Montreal hasn't been competing for a division title/wild card/world series year in and year out. So worse case play him and if you fall out of the race deal him for a ransom then or take your draft picks for him.

Remember, thats just whats being rumored. And I tend to agree, although Beltre is a phenomenal player and if he put up numbers like he did this past season (he's more then capable of it) then he's well worth the money.

No, but I'd go 5 yr 65 mill or so. Sure its a chance, but he was absolutely monster last season. Put him in the Cell last season and he may just hit 60 hr's.

Well it was also Beane's call to pick up Kendall, even though payroll was semi close to a wash on the deal, still they upped the roll.

EDIT: All of a sudden, the A's no longer have one of the most intimidating rotations in the AL. The Big 3 have just become the Suspect 2 (While Mulder is a true ace, I think Zito spooked some people last year).

look for another prospect(lower level) to be included to complete the deal -- I think this may have been the hang up... maybe a PTBNL
