Dustin Hermanson cannot be the fifth starter for the sox. though i want renteria...the sox have other options than hermy.

same response as Greasy.....there are better options out there that aren't even on ESPN's or Rotoworlds radar until a team signs them....Hermanson was on noones radar until the sox signed him.....

I know that, but the way i took it was he thought he could not start. Also now there are very few starters out there better than him.

I would like that also. Hermanson, IMO would be fine in the 5 spot. Although, as I have said before Contreras as the 3 scares me.

Sox need a pitcher in the worst way. They can not relive this damn russian roulette of 5th starters again...

No way. Starting pitching has got to be the overriding priority now. I will not be satisfied with this offseason until they acquire a quality starter to round out the rotation. All the moves made so far will be for naught if we're spinning the roulette wheel every 5th game to see who starts.

Hermanson should only start a game in an emergency situation. Part of his value is that he is capable of doing that. But, we have to have someone that can nail down that 5th starters role.

No doubt they need another starting pitcher...

Has to be a pitcher. It seems like more and more we are trying to get rid of the 2000-2004 gist of the team, and the 5th spot has seemed to be the problem alot of those years. We need a consistent 1-5.

I didn't hear Hermy, but I did hear Schoen....which is inetresting when you consider that he has pretty much demanded to be a starter, or he'll walk....and I've heard no talk about him walking.

Hell when the Sox are talking about cleaning house of these piss poor attitudes and what not.... would make one think Schoney has to go as well right? His demands of I start or I walk sounds pretty s***ty to me. I bet they non tender his ass.

Right now there is the small chance they could get something for him. They won't release him until the deadline for just that reason.

Its too bad that Schoney isn't more open to being in the bullpen. I think he is solid enough to help the pen out quite a bit. I just don't see him as an everyday starter. IMO

I don't think there is room for Schoney in our bullpen. Either he's the 5th starter or he's elsewhere, unless someone else is traded.

I'd say send Cotts back to AAA and let him get back to being a starter and have Schoney out of the pen. Since Schoney would refuse then ship him out in a trade or non tender him I guess.

I think Kenny knows if he tries to pull that garbage he's going to get roasted by the fans, especially at Soxfest. The only way Kenny could ever justify making Hermanson the fifth starter is if we signed a BIG NAME position player free agent, and none of us see that happening.

 

The money should go to Matt Clement or another free agent starting pitcher.

 

This is day four of my advocating the overpaying of Matt Clement stance.

Hermanson should be the Sean Lowe of the '05 Sox. Spot starter-long reliever.
