I'm not sure when Aaron Rowand turned into Miguel Cabrera. Untouchable is a strong word. I don't think we have one player I would classify as untouchable. the closest things are Buehrle and Garcia. I would lose no sleep over a Rowand/Anderson based package with a few mid-level guys. Aaron Rowand is a nice player but he's not going to be a superstar for this team. I think if we included Rowand, we could take Judy off the table. And then, we have a World Series contender based on the strength of our pitching.

I was all for the The Sox getting Big Unit. Not for that price though, even if it is Everett. KW would be gutting this team for one 41 year old pitcher. I now turn my back on The Unit trade, don't do it.

oh yeah, randy joh *THE NEW MARS VOLTA CD KICKS SO MUCH ASS* son would be cool and everything but i really think that it wouldn't make much *BUY THE CD WHEN ITS OUT IN MARCH* a diffrence if we didnt have a good #5 pitcher... the diffrence between garland and RJ in wins is probably at most, 10 and with the loss of marte, we might be losing a couple of those wins.... but hell....*DONWLOAD THE NEW MARS VOLTA CD!* if we get RJ and a good 5th starter, without giving up rowand... im all for it.... i remember KW saying that garland would be a 18 win starter in NL many times, and i think he might be right... but is really *I HAVE THE CD IF YOU WANT IT* just laying a media trap for the dimondbacks... who knows thou

Rowand does evrything solid. BUT, he's not a 40 sb guy and he's not a 40 homer guy. I'm not sure his offense profiles as a star left-fielder. I speak from the minority on this boasrd as most love rowand, but I don't want the history books to reveal that we let Aaron Rownad stop us from going afte the Big Unit. Right now, this team is nowhere close to being better than a first-pround exit fromt he playoffs. If we can add Johnson without traidng Garland out of the 5 spot, we are then a team that is heavily built for a championship, just like the 03 team with a top-heavy rotation/

I don't think Aaron is untouchable to KW. Sure he's cheap, but guys are making him out to be Beltran. He's not. For the right deal I would trade him. Not for Johnson, unless that's all they wanted or if they wanted little more. Aaron is a good piece of trade bait. Trade him to Oakland for Tim Hudson. Trade him to Florida for AJ Burnett.

 

I'm also sick of hearing talk that Aaron should be our #3 hitter. He doesn't have enough power to match up with Frank, Konerko or even Dye for the #3 hole. He would be a #3 hitter on a team like the Brewers prior to Carlos Lee, but definately not on the Sox.

Trading Rowand and saving Garland would not be the worst offset in my mind.

Ever heard of robbie alomar??? Aaron would be a perfect number 3 hitter, he gots on base, he can run and he does have some pop and ability to drive in runs. Remember robbie batted third in that crazy lineup that cleveland had in the 90's when they had a couple more guys that had more power then him.

I have a MLB.tv pass and follow tons of players around the league. Every summer I go to a game in every ballpark across America. Minor Leagues I'm not so good on, but as far as the Major League's go, I watch tons of it.

KW came out last winter talking about wanting "grinders" for his team and call Aaron Rowand by name. I don't see KW giving him up, especially after last season.

I just hope KW is not counting on Willie Harris to do anything next year. It ain't happening for Willie. When Dave Wills calls you out on the radio, you know you've got a problem. Wills usually sticks up for players when fans call his show after games. If he says something about Willie, that's good enough for me.

Rowand's last 584 AB's (approx = 1 full season) -- Rowand's batted .322 with 30 HR's -- When was the last time Dye did that? Frank's only had a full season where he put up an OPS of .900 once in the last four years. Pauly was great last season, so I can't argue with that, but I don't like him batting third, too many GIDPs.

Why would you bat someone with 30 HR's(estimated again) over a guy who had 41, or a guy who had 40 the season before? I say Rowand bats the Renteria role and it's either 2nd or 6th. I would go with the earlier. I'm sure Ozzie will too.

No way. Those guys would both be gone in a year. Rowand is a bargain for a few more. Plus, he's the very definition of grinder, what KW is looking for.
