Doesn't LA scout anybody? Jose was a fish out of water at 3B. He's got good tools for there but never caught on to what you should do on a certain ball in a certain situation. It was a great relief when Crede came up, at least he knew whether to throw home or across.

 

I like Jose and was sorry to see him go, I rated him higher at SS than most, but I never expected somebody to stick him at 3B.

In 125 games last year, Valentin hit .216 with 30 home runs and 70 RBIs. That's a bit of a drop-off from Beltre's numbers of .334, 48 and 121.

With the rumors of a 4th team added to the whole RJ trade, I wouldn't be surprised if it dealt with Vazquez and Navarro going to the White Sox, and Konerko and Garland going to the Dodgers. The 4th team is a rumor, the White Sox involvement is purely my theory.

Our offense is suspect enough, the last thing we need to do right now is trade our leading hr/rbi guy.

You are right IMO, third base is not a good option for

C>SS>CF>2B>3B>RF>LF>1B

 

In theory, Jose should be all right heading right on the little chart is much easier than moving left. I've seen 2B and 3B reversed in the past before, but they're essentially the same defensive difficulty, just different skill sets.

 

Jose should be fine. The more reps he gets, the better he'll be.

I was thinking he was getting a little slow on the DP pivot so going to 3rd should be helpful. His arm strength is solid and he's resonably quick. My guess is a dozen E-5 early in the season, then he should settle down and do ok.

yea, i am in the minority, but what are you gona do, i liked his attitude, the way he played. but it was time to move on. when we play LA and he comes to bat i will give him a standing ovation, then i will be hoping he will strike out for the benefit of the sox.

I'll miss Jose and appreciate what a good job he did for the team at SS. You guys want Caruso back?
