Way too early for this.

lets not jump to the start of the season already, some of the good free agents like delgado can still help teams

Aren't those the same every year?

This is the worst part of the year, most of the FAs have been snatched up, not much left to talk about.

Players start reporting for ST sometime next month. That's something to talk about!

And yes, it's still a little too early to predict what will happen in terms of playoff births. Not so much because of free agents remaining (Carlos Delgado helping a team? Are you serious? :bang), but because of possible trades that could happen between now and how Spring Training goes. Most of the top free agents have been signed (really only Derek Lowe and Carlos Beltran jump out as major impact free agents remaining - both Scott Boras clients, shocker :rolly ).

In the case of the Sox, I guess the FA factor still remains, because we're in the market for a C and probably (hopefully?) a 2B, but mainly we need to see how ST goes. If Frank is good and ready to go, I think we've got a good shot at winning the division. And we'll have to see how El Duque looks. He's another big question mark.

I'd say somewhere around mid-March, these predictions will carry much more water than they do right now.

Gotta Lay off the Silver and Black Kool Aid ;)

Talk to me during spring training.

Talk to me in late May once the team has gelled and the weather is more consistent. Then we'll see what we have.

Talk to me in October when we're watching Minnesota in the playoffs yet again. Sorry, just a little discouraged from the past 4 years.

Before I get jumped on: I'm not giving up. I'm not rooting against the Sox. Just discouraged is all.

Don't talk to me at all. :)

:P

I predict I will have a good time following the boys. At the park, on TV and on the radio on hot summer nights drinking cold beer on the patio. I'll take bets on it.

which is exactly why this team is drastically different than the past 4 years.

that should be enough to not be discouraged.

Honestly I think we are a player away from being able to truely contend. We might be able to win the central but could we win the series, I really doubt it.

Don't worry. It's January. I'll be excited by March.

thanks for your support, any team can win the division in case you didn't know that, dont count out the royals even though i doubt it will happen

Don't get me wrong. I am a die hard Sox fan and I will be rooting for them with every fiber of my being. However I don't think as is they are a World Series caliber team. Doesn't mean I won't support them and love them.

GO SOX! PROVE ME WRONG! :headbang

I don't even know where to start in most divisions.
