Until this hits some media in this part of the country, I am chalking this up to rhetoric from a sports station in SF that wants to get rid of durham and his high salary.

 

Steff reports that according to Ray's brother Chad the Sox have inquired about Ray. How recently they did is unknown, Steff is trying to find out what is going on, but she'll be going out of town, thus she may not find out for awhile.

Last time I checked Iguchi has no major league experience. Durham is a little bit more proven. I could see us taking on up to 4 Mil a year for Durham just because he has proven himself when healthy.

No way should Iguchi be given 4 mil a year until he has proven something.

Durham's a lock to miss some games though. And Iguchi has hit over .330 in his last 2 seasons in a pitcher's park. It's more of a risk, but I think the potential reward of Iguchi would outweigh Durham, but that's just me.

Personally though I think Iguchi would pretty much put up the same amount of numbers as Durham, and he wouldn't miss as many games. You could backload the contract, and you wouldn't possibly have to give up Marte or prospects. Plus it would give Valdez the chance to go back down to Charlotte for him to get more at bats.

I know and I am sure that His brother knows that the sox inquired. Big deal. They inquire about alot of people. Look, i am just saying this is much different than others. With AJ, we made an offer, it was in the press, all over the internet and radio, same with iguchi. offers were made and all press knew about it. This could merely be, "hey we like Ray, he has a fan base hear, heard you are looking around for a taker, what do you want?" Could be that simple. All along the deal for iguchi is still on the table. I would rather have iguchi for half the price. This just doesn't make sense unless there are some legs to this stuff. Why would the sox not pay 5 million a year for durham three years ago, but are willing to pay 6 million now. I just don't think it can happen without a large portion of salary paid by the giants. Just my opinion. Nice player that is overpaid. Lets wait until it actually hits some mainstream media.

Let me please add one more thing. I think if they inquired, you can bet on this. Willie harris is not playing second this year. For all of you guys who love Harris, the sox continue to try to find other options at second. Thank god, it is no secret I hate Harris.

I don't think the Giants would pony up the $$ to cover that big contract, Sox will not take it all on. Or even the majority. It's a bloated contract. And Durham supposedly was unhappy with the organization when he left, but who knows about that.

LOL on this whole thing, ps Durham is a huge longshot but it shows the sox are looking at trades as well. They have cotts to dangle, adkins and harris as well.
