February 14, 200521 yr Anybody see Kanye West perform? I thought that it was simply amazing. He is really good live. I also was in awe when he almost started crying when he accepted his award, because he was talkin about his accident. I really think that he is gonna bring rap back. For those who dont know who Kanye West is you should really check out his CD, The College Dropout, even if you dont like rap. He's a rapper from the south side of Chicago, but is way different from most rap. He actually raps about personal experiences that people can relate to instead of the usual drugs, violence, girls, and being gangsta Edited February 14, 200521 yr by shagar69
February 14, 200521 yr I just turned the Grammy's off; I saw everything I wanted to see. I wanted to see Green Day and Kanye perform. Both of their performances were awesome. I was really happy for Kanye when he won. His new CD comes out in April; I'm really looking forward to it! Edited February 14, 200521 yr by greasywheels121

Kanye West A lot of people may be talking about Kanye West, but the Chicago-based artist isn't quite a household name. His album, "The College Dropout," generated one Top 10 single ("All Falls Down") and two that reached the Top 20 of Billboard magazine's Hot 100 chart ("Jesus Walks" and "Through the Wire"). Prior to "Dropout," he was known for producing tracks for hip-hop heavyweights Jay-Z and Ludacris. A buzz already is building for West's next album, "Late Registration," scheduled to arrive in stores in April.

I love the album, and I think he's pretty cool, but I can't pretend to know too much about him. The performance was outstanding however... not sure about the exact details, but he got into a car accident where he almost died. he had reconstructive jaw surgery and his jaw was actually wired shut for 6 weeks. This is when he recorded the song "Through the Wire" which is impressive
February 14, 200521 yr Kanye also makes some refrences to the accident in song number 8 on College Dropout. Its one helluva CD. Im not a big fan of rap but I definately suggest it for anyone out there who wants to listen to something good. Cant wait for his next CD.
February 14, 200521 yr Lol, I didn't even know the grammy's were going on until seeing this thread. I can't stand award shows.
February 14, 200521 yr Kanye West isn't bringing anything back, the guys a jackass. He lost some "best new artist award" some time back to that country singer, and threw the biggest hissy fit to the media, using quotes like "I should have won" "I am better" As far as I'm concerned that jackass deserves nothing.

I just find the show boring as hell..

First.. whoever advised them that singing in spanish on an American awards show was a good idea should be fired.. and second.. if they're going to perform together they should practice their body language. He kept trying to hold her hand and touch her and she pulled away from him at least 4 times. I was LMAO. They'll be divorced before '05 is over.

You're going to say a conceited jagbag like him is going to bring back rap? He's produced a ton of successful CDs and recorded one of his own. I don't know if he's gonna "bring back rap", but he's certainly having a good run of success. I'm no Rap Scholar, but he is everywhere these days. Whether he's a Flavor Of The Week is still to be seen.
