I agree with the decision as well. You had Viz up & throwing last inning & let's face it. Jon lost his control. He's leaving with 7IP, 2ER. That's another quality start. Why risk damaging it? This way his confidence remains high.

Even though Jon did almost have the meltdown most of thought would happen he did pitch very well from the numbers i see, he finished throwing 84 pitches with 54 of them being for strikes and ended up only walking two and giving up two..So although we would have wanted a CG or a shutout, we still have a 26 year old that pitched very well tonight against a pretty good lineup, even though sexton is out. I hope this start will build some confidence for the kid and hopefully make it near that 15 win mark.
