May 1, 200520 yr QUOTE(flippedoutpunk @ May 1, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) i love BBTN i love hearing below average former baseball players tell me how superstars can fix their swings Since when do you have to be a great player to know hitting theory ? Look around the majors , hitting coaches typically were not great players. Greg Walker wasn't a great player . Charlie Lau and Walt Hriniak were considered great batting coaches and they didn't do squat in the majors. It takes talent to be a superstar, it takes knowledge to coach. Don't get the two mixed up.
May 1, 200520 yr Dear BBTN, Please stay away from the south side of chicago. Focus all of your energy on the north side urinal, and the most "talented" pitching staff in the league. There is nothing to see here -The White Sox

May 1, 200520 yr QUOTE(flippedoutpunk @ May 1, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) maybe id take kruk more seriously if he would have kept his former hair cut party in the back baby My all-time favorite John Kruk story: Early 90's, Spring Training with the Phillies, Kruk is at a team function/party and he fires up a heater. Random Woman: "What are you doing? You can't smoke! You're an athlete!" Kruk: "Lady, I'm not an athlete, I'm a ballplayer." Kruk is a funny guy and was a good hitter, IMO.
May 1, 200520 yr he was part of the lineage of imports that provided Big Frank with a good bat behind him. Schuler deserved a lot of credit for bringing in the Kruks, Tartabulls, Burks, and Francos of the world
May 2, 200520 yr Kruk just said Garland is the best pitcher besides Santana. Maybe he would've put Garland down for April if it was April and a day.
May 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 1, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) Any man formerely on The Best Damn Sport Show Period loses all respect by me. lol man, I totally forgot he was on that show. They have so many hosts come and go it seems.
May 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 1, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) well Reynolds made an all star team and stole 60 basses and Kruk had a lifetime 300 average so your below average statement was pretty foolish <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only thing people will remember about Kruk's .300 average is that he quit once he reached it.
May 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 1, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) The only thing people will remember about Kruk's .300 average is that he quit once he reached it. Kruk = fat piece of s***. f*** him.
May 2, 200520 yr Reality is beginning to set in for them: 1) Uribe, Ozuna, Thomas, Gload all out 2) KC 7-18 11 gb 3) CLE 9-15 9 gb 4) DET 11-12 6 gb 5) MIN 15-9 2.5 gb (needs 3 wins coupled w 3 CHW losses to catch us) 6) CHW 18-7 7) NHL wise: CHW 36 pts, MIN 30, Det 22, Cle 18, KC 14 8) Rested Bullpen. RP IP: CHW 60, MIN 69*, CLE 73*, DET 70*, KC 79 * - projected to 25 GP 9) BMC 10) Offense well below career averages May games: MIN vs CLE (10 gms). DET has a schedule that would make any one weep. CHW, it's a tough schedule but starts off with KC at home. If CLE can play their best ball vs MIN, & the CHW win more than any ALC team in May we can really stretch the distance betw ourselves & the rest of the ALC. Not bad for a team where Koney's hitting .209 & Thomas has yet to bat.
May 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 1, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Okay, you're an ambulance.... Sorry, couldn't resist.

May 2, 200520 yr Hey isn't Rex Dibble on the show? He's pretty funny. I remember his story on DP about dating a gril with a black tooth in the minors

An observation from pro sports. The best coaches/mangers were fringe or average players. My theory is that they had to be fundamentally sound and think through the game more than the superstars. The superstars had more God given talent but the fringe players had that extra something that they learned. Of course it could be that the superstars made more money and don't need to manage or coach.
May 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) Impossible with only 137 games left Yeah, especially when we only play them 14 more times this year.
