the guy's a jinx...

....and I'm glad he is, no one should sign for that much loot (Texas ) and then walk away cuz suddenly, he's 'tired of losing'. He shoulda stayed and rotted there and I hope he stays and rots in NY.

A jinx?? What are you a Scrubs fan?? :P Yeah I'm sure all these teams not making has everything to do with A Rod and nothing to do with the team not being able to perform.... :huh Esp. Texas...they spent all the money on A Rod and couldn't get anyone else who could play a long with him. Who do you blame for that?? A Rod?? I am sure everyone here would turn down 250 Million...if anyone is to blame its Hicks for being that f***ing stupid to bid against himself and ended up paying that much...

I am willing to bet $1.00 that some stupid owner will trade them a great player simply in exchange of cash and some dumb prospect

My first guess would be Roger Clemens. Second guess is Jason Schmidt. And again, they will be in the playoffs. It happens every year.

Just look at what they have given up in the past.

George will go to $300M before he tears this down. No doubt in my mind.

Expect them to get Clemens and/or Jason Schmidt simply by giving cahs back to the other teams.

If they blow it up i think a trade of A-Rod for Uribe would work wonderfully.

They'd pay A-Rod's contract of course.

1. Alex Rodriguez Yankees $25,705,118

8. Sammy Sosa Orioles $17,875,000

9. Mike Piazza Mets $16,071,429

10. Chipper Jones Braves $16,008,539

11. Kevin Brown Yankees $15,714,286

12. Randy Johnson Yankees $15,419,815

13. Chan Ho Park Rangers $15,000,000

14. Curt Schilling Red Sox $14,500,000

15. Mike Hampton Braves $13,503,543

16. Jason Giambi Yankees $13,428,571

17. Jim Thome Phillies $13,166,667

18. Bobby Abreu Phillies $13,100,000

19. Andruw Jones Braves $ 13,000,000

26. Carlos Beltran Mets $11,571,429

27. Gary Sheffield Yankees $11,496,689

28. Adrian Beltre Mariners $11,400,000

28. (t) Darren Dreifort Dodgers $11,400,000

30. Jorge Posada Yankees $11,000,000

30. (t) Albert Pujols Cardinals $11,000,000

30. (t) Mike Sweeney Royals $11,000,000

30. (t) Javier Vazquez Diamondbacks $11,000,000

34. Pedro Martinez Mets $10,875,000

35. Miguel Tejada Orioles $10,781,206

36. Tom Glavine Mets $10,765,608

37. Scott Rolen Cardinals $10,715,509

38. Jason Kendall Athletics $10,571,429

39. Lance Berkman Astros $10,500,000

39. (t) Roy Halladay Blue Jays $10,500,000

39. (t) Mariano Rivera Yankees $10,500,000

52. Carl Pavano Yankees $9,000,000

74. Hideki Matsui $8,000,000

9 in the Top 30, 10 in the Top 40, and 12 in the Top 75. $175 million altogether for these 12 players (minus what former teams are paying Randy Johnson, Alex Rodriguez, etc). That is their 12 man core.

Deals where they took on a huge chunk of salary:

Kevin Brown (for Jeff Weaver, two prospects)

Randy Johnson (for Javier Vazquez, Brad Halsey, etc)

Alex Rodriguez (for Alfonso Soriano)

Free agent acquisitions:

Mike Mussina (free agent)

Gary Sheffield (free agent)

Jason Giambi (free agent)

Hideki Matsui (free agent)

Carl Pavano (free agent)

Homegrown players:

Derek Jeter (homegrown)

Jorge Posada (homegrown)

Bernie Williams (homegrown)

Mariano Rivera (homegrown)

Recent History (5 Years):

Javier Vazquez (for Nick Johnson, etc)

Esteban Loaiza (for Jose Contreras)

David Wells (free agent)

Jose Contreras (free agent)

So while they have taken on huge salaries in A-Rod, Randy Johnson, and Kevin Brown, they haven't exactly gotten away with giving up crap prospects for them exclusively (Soriano, Vazquez, Johnson, etc). And I can't see them pulling a heist for a young ace-caliber pitcher like Jason Schmidt. San Francisco isn't Montreal...why would they do that? And from what I've observed, there is no way in hell that Roger Clemens would want to go back there.

It ain't that simple, dude.

The Giants are gonna be like "Here, you can just have Schmidt for some crap prospect as long as you take on his salary".

Clemens is gonna be like "Yep, that's precisely where I wanna go."

We always play the Yankees pretty well, we just seem to get 'up' for them.

By the way, there is a quote in the paper today in which Ozzie was asked how the Sox pitching compares to the Yankees. His reply was something like, that's not a fair comparison, they're a last place team. Ozzie has a special drive when it comes to playing teams that get more pub, like the Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs. He tries to downplay it, but you can tell the fire is there. He's gonna be geeked to get at em. :headbang

Yankees are a last place team and cant compare with us? HAHAHAHA

THAT'S f***ING AWESOME!!!!!! I just love it when we can really stick it to those arrogant f***ers.

I really hope the Yankmees countine to lose, I do have my doubts though. I love hearing about it from NY Media and fans.

The Yankees just lost their third straight game to the Devil Rays. They are now tied with the D-Rays for last place in the A.L. East. at 11-18. :lolhitting

This is the most listless group of guys I've seen play MLB in quite a while. Maybe thats what happens when you are almost all 33+ years old and financially set no matter what happens on the field.

Id love sheffieled...

If they ate some of his salary, and mayb for a year or two a nice RF + offense would be nice. hed do alot for us :)

tampa is looking really good with sanchez, i boarded the sanchez bandwagon and picked him up, should be worth it

Gary can rake. No doubt about it.

he can rub too.....

rub on some of that cream and the clear.

Just wait until the yankees when 15 out of 18 at some point this year. It is just bound to happen.

Not unless they somehow pull 3 quality starters out of their ass.

They really f***ed themselves over with that payroll of theirs. They're stuck with a bunch of overpaid bums now and nobody is gonna take any of these guys in a trade or anything like that without sticking the Spanks with a huge chunk of the salary.

I consider Arod, Matsui, Sheffiled,Rivera, and Jeter great players. the rest are old, over paid bums. The first 5 I mentioned are over paid but are actually good players.

Their pitching was pretty bad for most of last year too, and they still went on a hell of a run. They've still got one of the most powerful offenses in the league, and Randy won't have an ERA over 3.5 all year. They won't win 100 games this year, but I'd be shocked if they finished with less than 90 wins. Their O is too good to not be able to overcome some less than stellar pitching. Yeah, Bernie and Giambi are pretty much useless and Mussina and Brown aren't the players they once were, but they should have more than enough talent to get in the playoffs.

Spankees with 3 errors in the 10th inning to hand the A's a game.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

God they suck ass.

Since qwerty said this on May 6, they have won 8 in a row.

Now, look at all of the responses to what he said. :D

Amazing, simply amazing.
