May 26, 200520 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?p...powerrank_week8 ESPN proves itself amateurs once again. No reasoning whatsoever, they just jockey people back and forth.
May 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(mreye @ May 26, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) Why do we worry about this? I JUST SENT A MASS EMAIL TO EVERYONE WHO WORKS AT ESPN IN REGARD TO THIS... :banghead :headshake Ugh...Go Sox
May 26, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(mreye @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) Why do we worry about this? I got sick of reading about Anthrax's GM moves. So I found something else to occupy my time. If we arent worrying about something or another on this site, what are we doing? Not too much.
May 26, 200520 yr Author I guess it is a bit petty, but I dont see any real reason that the Sox should have been dropped to the 2 spot by the cardinals. the only reason I see the Sox dropping is because ESPN predicted that the Cardinals would overtake the Sox for the top spot. The ESPN pundits couldnt have made their prediction wrong, that would be silly. So the team with the best record in the Majors is now the second best team in the Majors. makes perfect sense!
May 26, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) NEWSFLASH we were #2 last week as well this is true. It remains a travishamockery.
May 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(SouthPaw @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) I like the CBS powerrankings better! http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/powerrankings First step to ruling the world: ruling Chicago. Check. Great Quote.
May 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:10 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?p...powerrank_week8 ESPN proves itself amateurs once again. No reasoning whatsoever, they just jockey people back and forth. Until MLB adopts a BCS system for who makes the playoffs, I wouldn't concern myself with where we are in the power rankings.
May 26, 200520 yr While you're complaining about the "professional" rankings, you should also take a second to look at the rankings compiled by ESPN.com visitors. The public poll is turning out the right way. We're on top. Feel free to go vote yourself.
May 26, 200520 yr I like this power ranking. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/standings?ty...rder=false&st=2
May 27, 200520 yr guys, FYI when this was published, the cardinals were 10-5 in their previous fifteen while the sox were just 8-7.
May 27, 200520 yr lol it says the Cardinals are 15-2 in their last 17 games, but when half of the are against the Royals, it's doable.
May 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(Be Good @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Sox have the best record and baseball and are #2. That makes sense. So the power rankings should just be best to worst, in order of record? Seems pretty silly to have them that way. The subjectivity (agree or not) is what makes power rankings fun.
May 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 27, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) So the power rankings should just be best to worst, in order of record? Seems pretty silly to have them that way. The subjectivity (agree or not) is what makes power rankings fun. Yeah but not with the top 3 or so teams. It's not like we struggled recentley that we should of dropped. But power rankings are opinion, so I shouldn't argue with that.

But power rankings are opinion, so I shouldn't argue with that. Well seeing how we're 9-8 in our last 17 I'd say we have struggled lately, record wise atleast.
May 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 26, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) I like this power ranking. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/standings?ty...rder=false&st=2 It's the only stat that matters.
May 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 27, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) It's the only stat that matters. I second that
