TRADE THREAD III ~July 9 - July 15

Any of A.J. Burnett's remaining starts before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline could be his last as a Marlin. Any deal with the Red Sox likely would send Bronson Arroyo to South Florida, and indications are they wouldn't insist on a 72-hour negotiating window to hammer out an extension. The Twins, who may also be willing to take Mike Lowell assuming the Marlins provide financial relief, would part with right-hander Kyle Lohse. Though the Rangers' Kenny Rogers is a free agent after this season, the Marlins made a run at him before the 2003 season.

Its funny how the Twins are now attached to the very same trade rumors as the Sox

I'm hearing the Burnett deal may revolve around Marte and Everett.  That's all I got for now.

Who are you hearing this from? KW? Deep Throat? God?

After last night it would seem like a horrible trade. MArte shocked the s*** oput of me and struck out all 3 batters he faced. We need him in the bullpen if he can fix his control problem. And Burnett got rocked. I think we just need to sit back for a while and let things play out and maybe make a deal only if it is great deal.

The Sox have 15 days to sit back and let things play out. Alot could happen between now and then

Joel Sherman of the NY Post was on WFAN and reported that the Whitesox have scouts in NY to watch Tom Glavine pitch tonight..

Maybe Glavine is on his way to the Southside

God, I hope not.

4.94 ERA, .325 BAA, 1.75 WHIP, averageing less than 6 innings a start, f***ing huge contract, and he's 39.

I tend to agree but here's the good news. The Sox are looking, and they're being aggressive about it.

If we are looking at a rental, I tend to prefer a crafty veteran with postseason experience. Pretty sure Glavine has a full no trade anyways, plus he and Reinsdorf might not be on the best of terms, just me speculating.

i agree with this. plus, you'd have to think that considering his recent struggles and contract he could be had at a bargain price.

Have the two of them ever had a history?

The problem with dealing Marte is the Sox would have to pick up another bull-pen arm, Kevin Walker is not a major league pitcher.

Man, after the rousing output by the offense last night I would hate to see Crazy traded, he is a solid RBI man.

I liked the the line-up with Dye at 1b and Carl in RF. Not for everyday, but it's another option if they're not bringing Gload up to give PK a rest now and then

If we picked up Burnett for mainly everett and damaso then, Count would be in the bullpen. That would be our new bullpen arm. We would need a lefty specialist though.

That makes me believe that perhaps Schmidt won't be as expensive as I thought... if he only costs prospects, then I wouldn't mind a deal.

Thats going to be the key. Kenny isn't going to give up everyday players, aside from possibly El Duque or one reliever to add to this team. He's going to try and bolster the team by giving up its prospects.

However, with Crede having two herniated discs, if the Sox are dealing Uribe in any deal they are retarded. Right now Omar looks real nice cause than Juan gets turned into a super-sub which is an awesome insurance, especially with Crede's back questionable (the rest will help all of the middle infielders too, and Uribe will get lots of playing time and stay sharp as well).

Billy Wagner would be a great choice for a lefty specialist
