Luis Vizcaino

Featured Replies

Thought I would give Luis some props tonight. He's looked a WHOLE lot better the last 6 weeks. It was huge to have him come in and shut the door in the 7th and 8th innings tonight. His era is down to 4.17.

Addition from within...A Luis like last year would be great. Looks like we've upgraded our pen already.

I keep thinking this guy should be a top notch reliever. He has a nice arsenal of pitches, so for the love of god don't throw sliders exclusively.

Got his ass lit up a little bit with Takatsu's demotion. Great job though by Viz.

He's really come around in the last month or so. Glad to see it too cause we need him to be sharp for the playoffs.

Awesome work by Viz. :headbang

Can i still call him meatball or no?

Until the ERA goes to the 3's.

even the very back end of our BP contributes.

this team is so solid.

The back end of this pitching staff...

Cotts, Politte, Hermanson, Marte, Vizcaino...I think alot of people overlook what these guys are doing. They are quietly doing their job everytime they are called upon. Sure Viz has been shaky for alot of this year, but seeing Shingo get designated maybe lit the fire under his ass.

Our pitching is just incredible, even with The Count of 3 and 2, and El Duque struggling sometimes.

I think the big change is his fastball is popping and moving unlike when he was getting shelled. He was really throwing hard and then dropping in the slider. Much better work by Viz.

I wonder what his BAA and ERA would look like if you took away that April Cleveland outing?

Maybe it took a half a season for Viz and AJ to be comfortable? But good job, Viz!!!

This season...he'd have to not give up a run the rest of the year for that to happen.

Viz has decent stuff and should be able to keep his ERA in the 4s...in other words, every 3 innings he pitches or so, we should expect him to give up 1 run, maybe 2.

The advantage from Viz is that he should be able to get lefties out with that tailing slider, which he hasn't been able to do this year until recently, and he should be able to give us 2 innings when we need several after a 5-6 inning outing from El Duque/Contreras.

On the other hand, if he can push his ERA below 3 just for the next 2 months, our bullpen becomes incredibly dangerous.
