Jenks is the sexy new prospect. We get it. But, think outside the box folks. If you're able to use Jenks to acquire a guy like Wagner, you do it in half a heartbeat, no questions asked.

 

We needs someone with veteran/post-season expierence and Jenks ain't it. I'm not saying the guy can't contribute this season, but he won't be able to contribute on the same level as say, Billy Wagner.

In the words of KW, "1917". Jenks may be a lights out closer for yrs to come. But not this yr. If he could be part of a deal that nets Wagner, I could live with that. For a middle of the road guy like Baez, certainly not

 

One other thing--Jenks was a waiver wire pickup. How often could a waiver wire guy be used to pick up an all star closer? Not very often.

 

 

There was this guy named Santana that was a Rule 5 draft guy. His original team didnt think enough of him to protect him, the twins swooped in, the rest is history. BTW In no way am I even thinking of comparing Jenks to any stud on any team, but that was more to illustrate that just because you go on the junk heap once doesnt mean you cant be a star.

 

Its hard to find guys who throw this hard. If he throws strikes he can be something special for years to come. I dont know if we put him in the trade bucket, but then again I am biased. LOL

That argument might be decent for a GM looking to hang onto his job, who can point to a great deal as proof of his being a "genius". But for someone like KW who is looking to win a WS this yr, who has job security no doubt for a long while, that's probably secondary.

BMAC is unproven at the big league level, so is BA, so is sweeney etc etc. Jenks has proven himself to me, and he is one of the rare talents that will turn out for the best. This guy will not be dealt, in fact his rise is the reason we are looking to deal some of our bullpen (shingo, marte)

*Pack it up and prepare for post-season play.

Why would anyone think Baez would be a bullpen upgrade? The guy has 7 blown saves this year. Shingo was 8 for 9 in save chances. If you've been frustrated by Marte, Shingo and Vizcaino, you'll be equally frustrated by Mr. Baez. And on top of that, adding a guy like Embree? You guys must be masochists.

Like I said earlier the majority of those blown saves will have come from when he's pitched more than 1 inning.

Cotts shouldn't be used as a lefty specialist. He's better against righties and has been our best 7th inning guy all year long. Don't see any need to have Jenks pitching before Cotts in that type of situation but that's just me.

The Chicago Daily Southtown's Joe Cowley is reporting the Chicago White Sox have interest in trading for Philadelphia Phillies CL Billy Wagner but have been told Wagner is not for sale.

Its not his 270lb sexyness that we have fallen in love with, its when the radar gun lights up at 100 and the curve hits for a strike. Its also years and years of having guys come up from the minors that barely break 90. We crave HEAT, FILTHY HEAT. LOL

 

 

But I really dont think that it would take a Bobby Jenks to get any of those deals done. Baj, and a few of our many OF prospects. Tracey has upper 90's velocity. Plus we could add the X-FACTOR to any deal to put it over the top, DINGO!!!!!

Hes good against both, and with THAT pen I dont even think we would need a lefty specialist, but thats me. When looking up his splits though, I did notice he walks righties a ton, I dont recall seeing a trend like that

He's been much better in TB than he was in Cleveland that season. The D-Rays were really the only team to take a chance on him at the end of that off-season, and it's paid off. I wouldn't really like him in a closer role, but I think he'd thrive in a set-up role like Cliff Politte. But he gives you another option and has done the job before.
